Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Meloan will probably be sent to Indy. Looks like he'll add depth, nothing major.

Jackson has been recalled and Meek is on the DL

I Assume

Meloan is on our major league roster. Did we get our 40th man or is Meloan #40? If not, who did we designate for assignment?

Not sure.

Without Meloan, we were already at 40 (42, actually, with Dumatrait and Hanson exempt from their placement on the 60-day DL).

Not sure who’d be considered the most expendable on the roster. Sues? Hacker? Lerud? Walker? Bixler? Cruz? Jackson? No shortage of candidates…

No shortage!?

We’re building depth here, Vlad. Without every one of these guys, the entire edifice collapses.

Oh, wait, did you say Bixler? By all means, be my guest….

Heh.

Per Dejan, they cleared a spot by moving Yates to the 60-day DL.

oh good!

just what we need! another right handed reliever that walks too many guys!

(he’s just filler i know, but i had to say it)

He's potentially more than just filler.

Mid-90s FB, good slider. Struggling this year, but about as highly-pedigreed as a relief prospect gets before that.

He spent two years in the Dodgers’ top 10 prospects, and that wasn’t a weak system.

I like the move

Low risk, high reward.

He was well-regarded in the Dodgers system, as Vlad noted above, and should get a chance to prove himself the rest of the year. Maybe Kerrigan can see something the other 3 teams didn’t.

John Meloan? Isn’t that the washed up Red Sox pitcher who owned the bar on Cheers? Oh, that was Sam Malone, I guess!

WOW

Great move here…..sounds real solid and of course we need right handers in the bullpen we barely have any of them!

Do I detect some sarcasm?
