Dunn
Not surpsied to see the big man out of the lineup. He’s look lost against every breaking pitch he’s seen this series.
You build a home from the foundation up, not from the roof down.
If he played for the Pirates...
he’d only play about 50% of the games then. The Pirates tend to bench guys because they supposedly can’t hit a breaking ball.
Bucs 8-0
Maholm pitches a shutout, Milledge hits a HR.
I'm about 20 minutes north. It's raining.

Donnie Veal says...
In a pre-game interview that next season he will be looked at as a starter. The man can’t pitch 1 full inning and he’s going to start? Haha.

Not a bad list
Many what a difference from a year and a half ago. I’m not sure I wouldn’t have Locke on that list instead of Morris, being a lefty without the injury history. And of course, the short-term bias is one guy just threw a gem, while the other was suspended for behavior.

Well...we now know...
that “extended look” = 1 week, according to Pirates management.
must have been the 2-hit, 1 HR game
that got him sent to the doghouse. I certainly don’t mind Moss being treated fairly (even if he’s had plenty of opportunity so far), I just hope that Pearce isn’t once again sent to Siberia.
Kevin Hart

I’m probably wondering who I have to mug (actually thinking something else) to play every day.
Lol.
Very true. I know it’s his “natural position” but I wonder if maybe it’s the whole 5’ 10" 1st baseman thing?

Dibble just keeps ripping the Pirates
Last night he said “the Pirates are re-building, the Nats are building to win”. what the crap is that?
Last night
He kept talking about how similar Nyjer and Cutch are, despite the fact that cutch hit almost as many HR’s last night as Nyjer has in his career.
And that Cutch is 7 years younger

I thought it was funny earlier in the game when Dibble said he didn’t know why Bannester was throwing the Pirates’ “soft hitters” (aka McCutch) anything but fastballs.
Cutch hit a fastball 420 ft. for a line drive home run last night. Hahahaha. Dibble is a tool.
He keeps talking about how the Nats pitchers should
“go after the Pirates AAA hitters” You know the nats have such a great line up!

Show me a guy whos afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a guy you can beat every time. -Lou Brock
Did you guys see Ted Keith from SI.com says the Pirates are trade deadline losers?
You will be shocked to see he has a very stupid reason for naming us losers
That's the
Harold Reynolds argument. “I don’t get how you trade MLB guys and don’t get them back in return.”
He did soften his stance after the GMs talked with him though.
Mr Reynolds...It's because trades are made to improve the team at some point
and if a major leaguer would improve the team…he wouldn’t be traded because he is already better then the guy you are trading for…why can’t “experts” realize that?
Show me a guy whos afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a guy you can beat every time. -Lou Brock
I think experts do....
It’s the total D-Bags who don’t.

The media has been really polarized in regards to our trades. I think they have legitimate points that we may have received a lot of marginal prospects IF they’ve actually watched these guys play. The problem I have is that a lot of them jump to that conclusion without any facts or observations to base it on.
by thegreatchris on Aug 2, 2009 2:31 PM EDT up reply actions
That’s basically just a variation of the criticism that we’re not getting blue chippers back. That’s such a silly argument. None of the guys we had were worth a blue chipper.
I agree, but I think it can also be a valid criticism if the commentator feels that we’re not getting proper value for our players. For example I don’t agree with Keith Law much, but at least he mentioned that he thought Alderson had lost velocity and wasn’t a steal like we thought.

True story: Once, a band that I worked for / was friends with was playing at a club on Broadway street in Santa Monica (now defunct). As we were loading the gear into the van, the keyboard player’s roommate asked where we were playing that night. He was told the name of the club, on Broadway St.
He then asked, “How do you get to Broadway?”
The keyboard player turn to me and smiled the biggest shit-eating grin ever before turning back to his roomie and saying….
