9th time that John Russell has cost us a chance to win a ball game by leaving Paulie in the game when it was obvious that he had lost his stuff. I overall like JR as a manager, but his management of the bullpen is atrocious. After Belliard's rope into the gap following the Willingham HR, there was no justifiable reason to leave him in. Even my wife (who knows very little about the game) said to me that the pitcher looked tired and wasn't fooling anyone. Why is it so obvious to everyone but our manager? We may still win this game, but that extra run that JR was directly responsible for not preventing might be the difference today. This is 9 times this season where he has clearly let Maholm in too long and it has cost us dearly.
Has anyone else noticed this? Why is it so blatantly bad almost everytime Maholm pitches?
