Mr. Excitement
Done for the year
Don't know if anyone mentioned it on the game thread last night, but Nyjer fractured a hand and is done for the year.
Nyjer ... Freddy ... Jack ... Nady .... the Curse of NH continues. Abandon hope, all ye who trade here!
(Or maybe this is just what happens when teams bank on players of a, ahem, certain age.)
Now how many words do you have to put up for this thing to work? Yadda yadda yadda ...

This shows once again that the Pirates medical staff is top-notch.
Actually, Jack looks pretty good right now, he had a big home run yesterday.
Morgan had a heck of a season, especially given the low expectations coming in.

Certainly You Jest
The home run Jack hit was in the 9th inning of a game Seattle was losing 8-2.

It looked like a big distance, for his standards.

NyMo....
Did have a great season, but I gotta think it’s time to stop sliding head first. We all watched him slide over the bag repeatedly and now he busts up his hand. He stole 42 bases but got thrown out 17 times, a 71% success rate, which really isn’t acceptable.

Plus how many times did he get picked off?
His base stealing was probably a net minus for his team unless he is causing the pitchers to lose concentration on the hitters and serve up a few meat balls.

…unless he is causing the pitchers to lose concentration on the hitters and serve up a few meat balls.
Yeah, the thing is though that shifty runners are distracting for the hitter as well

Even though we traded him away
I totally understand why, and I was for the move long term. However, that doesn’t change the fact that I loved having the guy on our team even if he did make lots of baserunning errors. he was like some kind of drunken Usain bolt out there, it was great. Also funny and just a real likable guy. I’ll always root for him and hope he sticks around in the majors, not just until the Nationals have some young CF of their own to call up.
RIP NATE. RIP TONY PLUSH.
