A Note of Appreciation
I'm relatively new around here; just stumbled upon the site a little more than a week ago. Since then, Bucs Dugout has basically become my homepage.
After dealing with incessantly angry and misinformed Pirates fans, often even attempting to have actual discussions with them, I began to assume such ignoramuses encompassed the extreme majority of Buccos followers. This site has proved my assumption to be just that: an assumption.
Charlie, I think you run the best Pirates blog/site on the internet (and that is saying something, as there are some pretty decent ones, i.e. buccofans.com). In contrast to many supposed "experts," including many of the other moderators on sbnation, you are well-informed, well-researched, and well-spoken.
To the knowldable posters (gorkysn'beans, Vlad, BurgherKing, McCutchenIsTheTruth, and many others whose names currently elude me, for example): your insights and opinions are much appreciated, even those with which I disagree. Also, a special shoutout to WTM: love the player profiles, love the general info.
In conclusion, I'm sure I sound like a complete tool, but I just wanted to say "thanks."
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of the managing editor (Charlie) or SB Nation. FanPosts are written by Bucs Dugout readers.

Nicely put.
Agree 100% and also offer my humble thanks to Charlie, the posters mentioned and many others.
Agree
This was the first site I found actually at the beginning of the year when I wanted really dig deeper into baseball and the Pirates. I joined after a while and after seeing PBC blog, I’m glad I did. Charlie does a good job and keeps up with the site even when he is busy. I must say thank you to Charlie as well and to some of the vets of the site like WTM, Vlad, and cocktails.

Thanks for making a post that echoes my own sentiments
This site really has helped with my own perception of our fans. I figured I was in the minority after following the PBC Blog, so it’s been nice to get well-informed posters who actually debate (with pretty fair courtesy to e/o) and don’t sound like broken records.
Good work to all involved.
Not enuff of this
I’ve got 100% pure Yinzer DNA, so Charlie and this site is the only thing that keeps me from going crazy.
When I think about how Neal Huntington and Bob Nutting have been single handedly destroying the Pirates since they decided not to re-sign Barry Bonds and Bobby Bonilla . . . well it’s good to have a place to go where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came.
Thanks to you all, especially my spiritual guru, cocktails!
Aw, pshaw.

This site is an oasis in the desert
that is PIttsburgh’s baseball fans. It is fantastic to be able to come here and have an intelligent discussion about baseball
The glare of the spotlight is harsh, and the pressure that success breeds immense. We revere our heroes, but expect much. And criticism can come as easily as praise.
My Sentiments Exactly.
I am also a new member of this site and have been a Pirates’ fan for over 45 years. It is a tremendous help in satiating my Buccos appetite since I’ve been away from the ‘Burgh for so many years. The little one paragraph sidebars in USA Today didn’t really do much for me and ESPN’’s lack of coverage in perceiving the Pirates as an afterthought left me longing for more. I thank God for the Internet and this site in particular in order to allow me to follow closely the team that I’ve loved since I was a kid in Charleroi, PA. My great appreciation to Charley and WTM and everybody on this site that have made it such a stellar forum on the Pirates. Thank you.
Buy me a drink,
and we’ll forget the fact that you omitted me. ;-)

Yeah...
I found the Pirates blog Where Have You Gone, Andy Van Slyke back in 2006 after a really tough loss in Milwaukee on July 24th of that year. I just remember that Duke got smoked in that game. Anyways, Pat kept mentioning this blog and I started checking this one regularly. Then I put it on my RSS news feed and now I really like both blogs, although I’m starting to prefer this one because there’s a lot more people here to talk to. Makes me feel less alone, especially here in Iowa.
There’s no “yinzers” here, so that’s probably a good thing. There’s a lot of talk though about the Pirates, it seems. Suddenly everyone is an expert on them around here and they all think that if the Pirates just kept that 2008 team together this year, they would have been division contenders this year. Also, I’m an idiot for not thinking they were near contenders last year.
I can see where you are coming from with the Iowa thing
Lived in South Dakota for five years before going to college this past year. Twins fans everywhere and no one knows anything about the Pirates.

Since we are mentioning locations
Anyone else around here living in New Mexico?
HOLY CRAP!
I made a fanpost in which I was thanked and lauded (somewhat). Miracles do happen! My dad will be so proud tear.
But seriously, nice to have you aboard. I’m looking forward to have any insight you have cause I sure as hell could use it.
