One definition of insanity...
doing the same thing over and over…and expecting the results to change.
We (the fans) definitely qualify as insane then. We keep watching this putrid baseball…and expect the results to change. We royally screwed up one rundown tonight…and only were saved from screwing up another one when Doumit raced from behind the plate to first base…where Morton and Young forgot to cover in the rundown.
This team can’t even get the fundamentals right at this point.
Young was moved off of 2B for a reason.
Nobody should be surprised when he makes mistakes in the infield. The surprise should be when he doesn’t.
They wouldn't score any more
because AAA pitchers dominate them.
I wonder if you could find splits showing what the team has done against pitchers with 5+ ERAs, 4-5 ERAs, and sub-4 ERAs.
Death of the Pirates-PLEASE GOD, HELP THE PIRATES!
I have been a fan of the Pirates since 1960, the glorious year we beat the By-God NY Yankees in the World Series. Mazeroski, Groat, Clemente, Burgess, Virdon, so many great players, so much heart on a team that wasn’t supposed to win any games against NY. And yet, they won it all.
31 games below .500. 17 consecutive losing seasons. On track to lose 100+ games! I just can’t stand to see this horrible ownership and management destroy one of the greatest franchises in MLB history. I am sick of seeing it. I’m sick of the excuses, the idiot moves, the blown strategies, the massive owner and management incompetence.
A ex-player said: “Obviously they haven’t done a good job of anything here for a long time. They haven’t signed good free agents. They haven’t made good trades. They haven’t developed many good players and the ones they have developed, including myself, they’ve traded away for nothing.”
And yet the Nuttings and Huntington continue to delude themselves that they’re on the right track. Sell the team, Nuttings. If you truly care about Pittsburgh and the Pirates, get out now and find someone who can lead this team back to where it ought to be. A consistent contender in the NL. Face it-YOU’VE FAILED! YOU CAN’T FIX IT! GET OUT!
I think you meant
to post this here, instead of on BD.
Free your ass and your mind will follow.

The guy who traded the guy who delivered your quote...
…got fired in 2007. The guy who was majority partner at that time, whose lack of liquidity forced the move, is gone now, too.
Huntington and Nutting aren’t “deluding themeselves that they’re one the right track”. They weren’t on any track at all when most of the failure was going on.
Pirates Glory Days-YES-they do exist, they can again!
Check out this synopsis of the 1960 World Series between our beloved Pirates and The NY Yankees, with Maris, Mantle, Ford, Berra and all the other great Yankees players-and how the underdog Pirates, who hadn’t been to the big games in 30 years won it all, at home in game 7 at Forbes Field. Pirates fans need SOMETHING to feel good about!
