Rangers sign Scheppers
Just a minor blip on the radar, but it's not like there's anything else to talk about. It says he signed for over $1M, but there's no figure.

Other stuff.
They failed to sign Matthew Purke, a high school player they took with the 14th overall pick. He refused to sign for $4 million and went to TCU. So after that they pretty much had to sign Scheppers. Also, if I remember right, the Pirates were offering him more than $1 million, so it looks like the Rangers got a pretty good deal here.
Never ceases to amaze me how these guys hold out for a year and then sign for pretty much what could’ve gotten the year before. Scheppers delayed arbitration/free agency for a year in exchange for a year of pitching for peanuts in an indy league. Not a good business decision.
Well, injuries were a big part of this one. We weren’t going to offer him huge money (although we did make a good offer) with his uncertain injury situation, and he was banking on coming back healthy and having a good season, which didn’t happen exactly, so his stock was about the same. I don’t think either side really made a poor decision.
