Before the season is over, I'd just liketa say

a big

"Thank you!"

to Charlie for all the work he does for BD.

.

It ain't always easy, but  he does yeoman's work keeping things up, running, and moving smoothly (as possible).

BD has grown by leaps and bounds this season, with lots of new members and a higher profile. There've been some brouhahas, to be sure, but for the most part, members have kept it at the civil level, even if vehemently disagreeing with each other. It's a refreshing change from the sniping one usually sees in the blogosphere.

We'd all like to see the Pirates do well next season, but even if they don't, I'll be here to read, learn, laugh and enjoy BD. I've also enjoyed corresponding with some of you from BD outside of BD. Cool to make friends that way.

Cheers and thanks again, Charlie,

Agreed. Charlie you’ve created a great knowledgeable site. I haven’t posted on here in a bit due to work and school yet this is the most visited site I have. Thank you for your hard work

yeah ta.

This is really the first blog I tried for the Pirates and the atmosphere is much more condusive to informed debate compared to yahoo and mlb.com
My thanks.

I've learned a lot here

And I appreciate Charlie’s work too.
I think it might be fun to have a Bucs Dugout night at PNC sometime next season when Charlie’s going to be around. Wouldn’t it be fun to complain to fellow posters in person for a change?
Or maybe you guys already do this and I just didn’t know …

Agree with the thanks for Charlie, reasons stated above.

Also, thanks to cocktailsfor2 for the interesting and entertaining gif’s and jpg’s that have lightened what might often be dreary discussions. And props to Green Wave also, for the “don’t feed the trolls” image.

Yes, great job, Charlie!

You must have a ton of frequent flyer miles, Charlie, so I suggest you create a rewards program called Charlie Cares and have a Bucs Dugout MVP for 2010.

Charlie decides the finalists, say about 5 regulars, and the winner, as decided by a BD poll at the end of next season, gets a free flight to Pittsburgh for a game in 2011.

Think of the possibilities, Charlie! You’d get amazing user traffic on BD, and, as a side benefit, more exposure for your music etc.

It’s not that something like a Zach Duke baseball card isn’t a good reward for winning a BD contest, I just think my idea would take BD up the charts of sports sites.

And Frank Coonelly and Neal Huntington would probably appreciate all the effort expended to get a warm body or two into the stands for a team that expends all kinds of energy on promotions pleading with people to travel to PNC Park.

What say you, Mr. Wilmoth?

You're a good man, Charlie (Brown)

I, too, have enjoyed reading about the Pirates and sharing my feelings with some of the posters. This helped me to learn alot from behind the scenes.

Don’t have much more to add, so: Agreed.

Great work Charlie!

Even in the dull days of September, this is still the first website I visit every morning. Keep up the good work, Charlie.

by matskralc on Sep 18, 2009 5:03 PM EDT reply actions

Yes!

I’d also like to say that, having browsed through some of the other team sites, BD is far superior to a lot of the other MLB blogs on SBN. The quality of Charlie’s writing and the very knowledgeable commenters here really make this a great place to hang out and talk baseball.

Many thanks to Charlie and the entire BD commentariat.

Yep.

Not much else to say – everyone else already got there first.

by Vlad on Sep 18, 2009 5:35 PM EDT reply actions

I got nothing else to add

Thanks Charlie

Thanks for the well run site

even if the Pirates aren’t as well run. But I have dream that one day the Pirates will be great and we will look back at these last 17 years and laugh at them.

by WVPiratesfan on Sep 18, 2009 10:23 PM EDT reply actions

Really, you do a great job.

Maybe a bit over personal, Charlie, but what kind of music do you play?

by Suffering Buc on Sep 18, 2009 10:29 PM EDT reply actions

Yep, great job Charlie

I found this site about a year ago and my knowledge about the PIrates and baseball in general has grown immensely since then. This is the first, and mainly the only, site I go to when I want Pirates news and notes.

Thanks a ton Charlie

I can honestly say that you & those who frequently post on BD have made me a better Pirates fan. I’ve learned so much this season. Thanks for all your hard work.

I don’t post as much as I’d like, but BD has been one of my first stops every morning for the past three seasons.

Thanks again for all that you do, Charlie.

I share the sentiment

Although I have been a pain in the azz this year at times, Charlie is a gentleman and a scholar to put up with me and also to provide this blog for us forlorn Bucs fans.

Thanks Chaz
