Actually, Denny Bautista is Terrible

Making important decisions based on tiny sample sizes sure is fun, though, isn't it?

What a bad game. The three home runs the Cardinals hit were to almost exactly the same location. I felt like I was being forced to watch the same terrible play over and over.

TBH

I don’t know if it was Bautista as much as it was Hart.

Right now, I’m getting to the point where next year he’s not 1 of our 5 starters. If D. McCutchen pitches well again, next year i think he might get a spot.

and that was a bad game, except for the Bucs offense came around to score 6 on Wainwright! Now they need to figure out how to do it verses lowly pitchers with 6 ERA.

To be fair, Bautista came in to one of the most difficult relief situations in baseball – up by one, Pujols at the plate, runners on 1st and 2nd. The real offense in that inning was Hart walking Schumaker.

Also, I would’ve preferred to see Chavez come in there, not that that wouldn’t have turned out the same way.

"important"?

The last time an important situation occured at PNC Park was when that fan fell over the railing and Pujols performed first aid or whatever. The next one will be sometime in 2012.

By the way

I had a nightmare last night that Cutch hurt his ankle rounding first. :-(

Bautista coming in from the bullpen was like watching a train wreck getting ready to unfold. The killer B’s- Bautista & Bootcheck need to go bye bye, same for Jackson and Matt Colapse. Going into next year the pen needs to be a top priority and kept as such instead of being the only place on the team to hide rule 5 projects and trade baiting any decent role pitchers. The cause and effect of these guys failing bad can’t be doing any mental favors to our starting picthers. Sorry for the rant

They should have let Hart face Pujols. What’s there to lose? The playoffs aren’t on the line. Worst case, the exact same scenario happens and he homers. Best case, Hart finds a way to get him out, and that’s a tremendous learning experience.
