No walker again?
Ok, say what you want about being tired of me wanting to see Neil play, but is it just me or is everyone else sick of seeing LaRoche start. Why is’nt Neil getitng a chance to show what he can do, and possibly show he can take the starting job for next year? Just seems stupid not to play him, and much like beating a dead horse with starting LaRoche every night.
It's just you.

so you enjoy watching someone hit .240 with NO power, and has absolutely no chance of ever hitting a curveball out of the infield?

No,
I’m much more intruiged by LaRoche’s potential than Walker’s.
You need to get used to dissenting opinions, my friend…

hey buddy, are you still intruiged by LaRoches potential over Walkers? Atleast Walker would’ve made that routine play…

(yawn)
Please – don’t project what he WOULD have done…

He is NOT....
getting the starting job next year. Maybe in July if everything were to break right for him and wrong for LaRoche, but it just isn’t happening in April.
Agree, barring injury/trade
LaRoche will at least be getting the majority of starts in April/May

I will say the same thing I said earlier this year:

Everything I'm hearing on radio side...
says that LaRoche should have had at least the ball ARam hit.
perhaps, if he dove...
but it would’ve still been a single.
I’m watching, and Cedeno barely got to it.

Then...
Blass and Brown are full of crap…because they BOTH said he should have had it…and that it should have been a double play.
They are estimating...
it was in the hole.
Again, the first 4-5 hits have all been seeing-eye types. Even the WGN teevee guys are sying it.

Cockboy what TV are you watching? are you nuts? It went right under his glove without having to dive; meaning it definetely was’nt in the hole….

Sorry to disagree...
I just saw the replay on Lameday…LaRoche HAS to catch that ball. I’m sure he’ll tell you he should have had it.
Not saying he couldn't have.
But I don’t think it was hit hard enough for him to get up & make the play.

Tails...
LaRoche was never anywhere near the ground.
fair enough.
not worth continuing.

However..
on the radio side they also surmised that the ball hit the grass and didn’t take the last hop up like it should have and thus is stayed down and didn’t come up to Andy’s glove like most fielders would have judged it do.
Now… if you have quick cat-like reflexes, you might……make that adjustment, but i’ve seen balls take funny hops before based on the fields so…… i’m more inclined to go with the ball just didn’t come up and slid on the grass portion of the field. (hit a pot hole or something).
I cannot figure it out either
put Robinzon Diaz at third for god sakes

At this point...
I’d ALMOST rather see Bixler at 3B.
EVERY one of these things
are seeing-eye hits, none hit barely hard enuf to clear the infield.

Not gonna happen
he threw 100 pitches last night.
Arnie..
Seen leaving the building in a Cubs jersey..
At this point...
chances of avoiding 100 losses…very slim.
Holy horsecrap.
I started Duke in my H2H league. And it’s the playoffs. And I started Clayton Richard (6 ER, 4IP) yesterday.
Screwed.
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
LaRoche, Jones, Milledge, Duke, Ohlendorf
All on my team.
20-team leagues. (sigh)
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
Is he really injured? It could be that the Cubs are just protecting him, since the game has already been decided.
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
He was
having it stretched in the dugout.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see him sit a game or two, since the Cubs are out of it.

Damn good thing...
I’ve got the bye this week in the playoffs. Duke would have blown up my pitching stats that inning.
There's a case for Jones/Alvarez/Clement at first over Pearce.
Jones – 6’4"
Alvarez – 6’3"
Clement – 6’1"
Pearce – 5’11"(!)
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
Funny...
Steve Garvey was 5’10". He did alright at 1B.
C'mon, now...
Lopes, Buckner & Cey were better than Vazquez, Cedeno & Luigi

Garvey!!
Garvey needed a f******g oar to hit the f*****g ball today (laughter), that’s how f*****g bad he was – their f*****g pitches were. I’ll tell ya, he’d have made a f*****g great f*****g cricket player, hitting the ball on one f*****g bounce. I’ll tell ya, that’s a f*****g crime.

Eh...
Garvey was a little more talented than Pearce. I’m not making the argument that size should disqualify Pearce at first, but his shortness sure-as-heck doesn’t help us or him.

Not even tuning in for this one
but HOLY CRAP 7 runs in the first… Seriously… :(
I'm droppin' flava, my behavior is hereditary--but my technique is very necessary.
So, just got here. How is the game going tonig - OMG!!!!
I guess maybe Ollie is the ace of this staff.
I think so.
I read something about his development a few days ago, and that since Kerrigan completed a two-step process with him, his numbers has improved drastically from earlier in the year.
For my part, though, a sub-4 ERA is fine from Ollie. Anything else is gravy.

It’s a good thing this blog has so many Johnny-on-the-spots with pics/cracks, especially C42.
This place would really suck now otherwise.

According to Gameday
Cutch was pitched around. Maybe one of those six pitches was a sure strike.

Darn straight
I can only imagine us having lost 17-0 yesterday.
Horrifying, and yet hilarious in some sickening way.

Isn't it wonderful...
how the Pirates Radio Network has a habit of coming back from commercial…AFTER the first pitch of the inning. Hoffpauir’s ball had already landed in the seats before Brown got back.
Could be worse...
you could be watching it.

Fortunately...
WGN America isn’t covering this game…then I’d feel I had to watch it. It’s like watching a train wreck you know is going to happen.
Just noted on the WGN broadcast...
Cards with top 3 starters in wins…
Wainwright 17
Carpenter 16
Piniero 14.
wow.

and NONE
of them going to the playoffs.

Heh.
Those three have more than half of their team’s wins?
THAT’S a front on the rotation.
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
Yeah...
and those 3 have only 7 wins less than our entire pitching staff.
They’ve got a decent shot at catching us then, huh?
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
They'd probably need to win the rest of their starts.
But…I can’t rule it out…because we aren’t going to win 10 the rest of the season.
JR utilizes the double switch!
Consider the world at an end, also.
