Changes at WPGB

12

Not sure exactly how it may impact the Pirates, but it looks like WPGB 104.7 have changed their minds on the sports talk elements that helped lure the Pirates over to the station. They had already cut out their weekend sports programming, and have now dumped Ellis Cannon's afternoon show as well. Cannon did the pregame lead-in for the Pirates as part of his daily 6 PM show. They'll instead be running all Fox News national programming throughout the day outside of the morning show. It's not mentioned in Smizik's article, but post-game host Rocco DeMaro isn't certain to be back either. He doesn't currently have a contract for 2010, and isn't quite sure which way the station is leaning. No sports talk on 104.7 basically means no Pirate talk anywhere. It's starting to feel like the Pirates may also be looking for a new home following the 2011 season when their deal runs out. Can't say I'll miss the station.
