FM, that is.
Does anyone else think that the combination of this announcement, the firing of Ellis Canon, and the imminent end of the Pirates' contract with 104.7 adds up to a pretty neat solution for 2011?
The biggest question in my mind - aside from whether 93.7 has the cash to get the Pirates - is what the transmitter coverage looks like. A lot of people have lamented the loss of KDKA-AM's super-powerful signal and the infiltration it afforded our Pirates; would it make any sense to simulcast AM and FM?
While we're at it, do we hope that Rocco follows the Pirates wherever they go? I certainly do (I like his blend of stat-savvy with old-fashioned radio schtick; I also appreciate his patience with callers, and that it doesn't extend to deferring to "I'm done with this team" know-nothings), but I don't have a good sense of his overall popularity. What does your ideal pre- and post-game lineup look like?
