I figured I'd get a short summary of what the Pirates' prospects have been doing in the Arizona Fall League since it is a pretty slow time of year. I was curious to see what level of competition the AFL was closest to, and after looking through the ages and levels of the Pirates' prospects teammates on the Mesa Solar Sox I'd say it is pretty clear that the league is comparable to AA.
I took the average age of the players on the Solar Sox and rounded down to the nearest full year the average age on the team is 23.41. This number is probably close to 24 if you undo the rounding, but that is way too much work for me. Below I have listed the stats of 7 players the Pirates sent to the AFL, and it looks like our pitching is doing excellent while our hitting is leaving something to be desired. Obviously these are small sample sizes but the entire league is a small sample size so take these for what they are worth.
