The Cardinals acquired Ryan Theriot for Blake Hawksworth. The idea of trading for Theriot has been discussed here, and I thought it'd be relevant to see what others thought of this deal. I think it seems about fair, if you (like me) are of the opinion that Hawksworth will never be much good.

The more interesting question this raises is that of what happens to Brendan Ryan and/or Tyler Greene. I wouldn't mind seeing either of those 2 in a Bucs uniform.

In somewhat relevant news, the Rays have released Jose Julio Ruiz, who was signed out of Cuba last year. Report from MLBTR here, and from DRaysBay here:

That could be quite a deal when you consider he was thought of as a $10 million dollar player at one point. Back in March, it was reported the Rays had offered him nearly $2 million.  Some scouts liked his bat over Anderson, and it is believed his power potential is much greater. There are some concerns about attitude, but we've heard that before.

I never knew much about Ruiz, but do others think he's worth a look?
