Lastings Milledge....up to his old antics!!!!
Saw that Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com tweeted that Lastings Milledge was involved in a big fight in Winter League ball.
Lastings Milledge involved in big team fight in winter ball. Venezuelan friend says: Heated game. After he doubled in 4th, he made like he was throwing grenade to his dugout. Other team didn’t like. Hit him in 7th. Then he took 2B. Other team went after him. BOOM-Big Fight.
Hmmmm.....acting like he was throwing a hand grenade after hitting a double.....this sounds like the kind of stuff that got Lastings the bad reputation with the New York Mets & Washington Nationals.
Certainly not going to improve his chances of landing with another team. Did Huntington sense that Milledge wasn't making the steps forward in maturity that we all thought he was? Perhaps the non-tender was a good idea!
For those that are interested, here's video of the brawl that ensued.

Actually....
I should have said video of the “brawls” with an “s” that ensued!!! Plus a replay of the pushing and shoving that started it, at the end of the video.
"Perhaps the non-tender was a good idea!"
The non-tender was a good idea for other reasons based on how he performed over 1.5 years.
Milledge played the good citizen role while he was in Pittsburgh from all accounts-to his credit.
Now it’s time to move on. He’ll still make six figures in AAA next season.

Sorry guys!!!
It wasn’t up after I had posted it that I saw cocktails’ “Former Pirate involved in S.A. Rhubarb” (although, I wouldn’t have known it was about Milledge from the title, I figured it was about an ex-ball player!!!)
Although, I’ve seen a lot of multiple posts before and haven’t seen the scolding that I received (haha!!!)
I’ll try to be more careful in the future!!
Nice catch, Hayes.
Don’t ever fuckin’ do it again.
Heh.

Aside from the uniforms,
it’s kind of hard to distinguish a baseball fight from the scrum around a sale on Craftsman tools at the mall.
Milledge brawl
First off, we saw this posted on BD several days ago. So Adam Rubin and impliedi are late to the ball.
Second, I saw nothing on the video to support the assertion that Milledge made a motion “like he was throwing a grenade” after his SECOND double of the game.
Third, according to the report, next time up Milledge gets plunked, THEN TAKES (STEALS?) SECOND. At this point the jawing starts, emotions are running high. The video I saw shows the opposing player taking a shove, or whatever, at Milledge after some back and forth. The brawl ensues.
And this is Milledge’s fault? Nothing about he was beating them like a drum in the ballgame, so they plunked him. Nothing about hot-tempered Latins or Hugo Chavez supporters hopping on the hated Yanqui?
From the time Milledge arrived from the Nationals, dragging his reputation behind him, I personally saw him give nothing except his best effort on the field (regardless of whether the result was sufficient) and in compliance with what the PBC asked of him in terms of his behavior. Do we have any rumblings from the Pirates clubhouse about what a lousy teammate he was and how glad they are that he’s gone? Not that I’ve heard.
Why are we so eager to jump to conclusions that blacken a man’s reputation based on hearsay, innuendo and video evidence that does not necessarily support the conclusions being drawn.
Yes, I’m also tired of this subject.
