Cross Off Dealing Doumit to Yankees

The Yanks just signed Russell Martin, so  I don't think they need Doumit now.

Someone mentioned packaging Maholm with Doumit to the Yanks for something good (not sure what). That sounded like a possible idea but now with the Ynaks no longer needing a catcher, I am not sure who we would package with Maholm that would net us anything worthwhile.

Probably keeping Doumit for now while listening too offers is going to be the direction.

We’re trying to dump Doumit off a 105 loss team, but a world series contender would’ve wanted him? I don’t think that’s the way it works…

Yeah! We lost 105 games so I’m sure they wouldn’t take any of the scrubs on our roster even if we paid them. They wouldn’t want Cutch or Hanny or Pedro or any of those bums!

This is a cliche, but a good manager will focus on what Doumit can do instead of what he can’t do. Doumit is not an everyday catcher and he shouldn’t play against left-handed pitching. But he can hit right-handed pitching, and that’s a valuable asset. He can help a lot of teams if used in the proper situations.

He’d end up on another bottom-third team, for sure.

I agree

we should keep him on the team to DH, in AL ballparks, versus RHP.

we’ve now established his role! All for $5.1m!

Doumit, ideally, would catch 35-40 games, play a similar total in the OF, DH in AL parks and pinch hit. A manager such as Earl Weaver would have made this work.

Would've made more sense to me at the deadline last season..

Doumit to help the bench for a post-season run, and Maholm an emergency arm.

I will cross that off on my giant list of really specific things.

I would like to see said list…

They still need bench help

and they don’t have to worry about his contract, because come on, it’s still the yankees. If he heats up, he could be their DH.

Doumit would be a clubhouse cancer for the Yanks anyhow

The Yankees have a no facial hair policy….

Cryin’ Ryan spends an inordinate amount of time cultivating stupid looking shit on his face. Crybaby would throw a tantrum if he was forced to shave during the season.

I think Doumit does make sense for the Bo Sox now

Since they were in the running to Martin too, Doumit aint going to fetch too much from them, but maybe packaged with Hanrahan or Meek we could possibly get something decent in return from the Bo Sox

Dare I say

Lars Anderson?

fwiw

Lars is a good guy to target. At this point though, I’d want more than that back for Meek or Hanrahan.

If we’re adding one of those RP I’d want Ellsbury or a blocked AAA SP

Doumit for Lars straight up. Everybody wins.
