I still think that Andy Marte could be a solid, major league first or third baseman. I DONT think getting Lars Anderson is going to make any difference. I read an article about how Marte had a lack of work ethic and I think with the help of Clint and the fact that he will be fighting for a BENCH spot will really make a difference.
Now on to the interesting part. I have done alot of research and have used many mathematical methods on what the chances are of the pirates breaking .500. Now for the result....[drumroll]......41%. Not bad. The following will be the stats that each player will have to get AT LEAST
Andrew McCutchen- Will have to step up the running game, 32 stolen bases. The power is fine at 16 hr. The RBI's will have to be Only 57! Only bad part, Batting avg. around .300!
Jose Tabata- The running game has to be right where McCutchen is or better.[between Cutch and Jose there has to be at least 64 stolen bases]. The power will have to improve at 9 hr, he is only 22. The RBI's are a lttle more than Cutch at 62. The batting avg. high at .283
Neil Walker- Probably the biggest surprise, He will have to smash 22 hrs! The RBi's are even more surprising at 73! The stolen bases aare not that big if a deal at a small 6. The BA at .273
Pedro Alvarez- Now these are big nos., but I think that Alevarez can Handle it. 29 home runs, 84 rbis and a .269 Ba
Rest of the lineup- Overbay, Diaz/Jones, Snyder, Doumit, and Cedeno will ahev to put together 53 Hr's, at least 110 RBI's and a .239 batting avg.
The Rotation will have to be a Low, 4.54 era
