Here's Dejan Kovacevic's piece for tomorrow's paper. It's no surprise that the Pirates would want to trade Doumit, but I wouldn't be shocked if it didn't happen, simply because Doumit would be a problem for any other team for the same reasons he's kind of a problem with the Pirates - he's getting expensive, he can't play defense anywhere on the field, and he doesn't quite hit well enough to occupy a corner spot full-time. Kenshin Kawakami would have to come through a trade, but the Braves would probably give him away for pretty much free. He had a poor season in 2010 in terms of results, but his peripherals were pretty similar to those of 2009, when he was useful. By true talent level, he's probably something like a 4.50 ERA pitcher, but at his age, he would probably compete for a fifth starter role, and nothing more. Jeremy Accardo would likely be a minor-league signing. Man, some air has really come out since a couple weeks ago, when the Pirates were connected to Jorge De La Rosa and Adrian Beltre, hasn't it?
