Kevin Gregg

I have just read from MLBTR that the Pirates are interested in reliever Kevin Gregg. Last year Gregg was the closer for for the  Blue Jays, and he put up 37 saves along with 3.51 ERA. I really like that we are looking into Gregg because the Pirates only really have 2 solid guys in the bullpen, Evan Meek and Joel Hanrahan, and we will most likely trade one of them if not both. Even if we dont trade Meek or Hanrahan, it would be nice to have somebody like Gregg who is an experienced closing pitcher. A closing pitcher is also something the Pirates don't really have.

I have also read that the Pirates are also interested in guys like Kenshin Kawakami, Jeremy Accardo, Hiroyuki Kobayshi, Jusitin Duchscherer,  Chan Ho-Park, JJ Hardy, and Brenden Ryan from MLBTR (all of the players listed are players the Pirates have shown interest in within this last week.)

not to pick on you

but can we not have a separate thread for everyone the Pirates are linked to? I wouldn’t mind posts for guys who were signed, or close to being signed, but I dont really want to read every rumor in a separate thread!

(Ditto with random trade ideas, where the same idea is split in 2 fanposts- I m looking at you, pirates21)

What else is there to post about?

Would you rather have 50 SALE THE TEAM posts?

ESPN or Yahoo

is where you want to go if you just want who we signed or are close to being signed.

Eh, I disagree. I’d rather have individual posts about guys than see rumors about Bill Hall in a thread about Kawakami.

by mak_DC on Dec 8, 2010 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

alright just my opinion

although, if thats your concern, then there should be a rumor thread, where you discuss rumors…

by BurgherKing on Dec 8, 2010 5:20 PM EST up reply actions

Part of the beauty (for me), is that I can come to the front page and see along the right all of the various rumors, captured by Fan Posts). I’m sure there are 100 easier ways to find the Pirates rumors (and only those), but I’m far too lazy to figure it out. So this works perfectly.

100 easier ways to find the Pirates rumors

mostly, the Pirates section of MLBTR works for me. I come here to discuss the effects of moves with others who know a lot about the Pirates, as opposed to MLBTR, where fans of other teams only have a general idea.

My view is that we have way more fanposts than we need, a lot of them not giving any new information from my perspective. In which case, they should be fanshots.

by BurgherKing on Dec 8, 2010 7:09 PM EST up reply actions

well

nobody said you have to read them all.

by Tuckshop25 on Dec 8, 2010 5:59 PM EST up reply actions

The trouble is it knocks other fanposts off the front page. There are no details released about our offer so not much to discuss or analyze anyways. This could easily be a fanshot instead.

Fair enough

I will agree that it’s unnecessary to have 3 posts about Matt Diaz, 2 about ____ rumor, and 4 saying “what if ____ happened” that have no basis in reality. You’d think the creator of duplicate fan posts would notice that there are already one or two other ones, or that Charlie has often already made a post on the main page.

As the poster of one of the Diaz posts

I will say there were no psts anout it when I started. When I completed the post I noticed the one RichieHebner had made. I went back to delete mine only to find a couple people had made posts…including a very funny picture post from WTM, so I left it up. Charlie’s post came after.

I would really like to sign....

Jeremy Accardo and Koabyshi. Kevin would be a great addition, only I dont know his status as a type b or a

your life is what your thoughts make of it and if you look for the meaning of life it is far beyond what you think of it.

by even meek on Dec 8, 2010 4:39 PM EST reply actions

Gregg

He’s a type B, so no harm in signing him.

Does anyone know where Justin Duchsherer is in his recovery?

What is the reality of his return to competition and pitching well?

by Piratefan13 on Dec 8, 2010 6:14 PM EST reply actions

just duchscherer

i doubt were gonna be signing him because of the signings of Olsen and Correia, i just threw his name in because he was on MLBTR as one of the guys we were looking at
