Since we're all going a little stir-crazy waiting for spring training to start, how about some baseball? Spotted this clip over at Rum Bunter, and I had to share it. The video shows two prime candidates for our 2010 roster in action against Tampa Bay: Javier Lopez and Jon Van Every. The trick is that in the clip, Lopez (a left-handed pitcher) is playing right field, while Van Every (an outfielder) is pitching.
Maybe if Van Every can't crack our crowded outfield, he can sneak off with the job as our second lefty in the pen.

Or maybe he can win both jobs
in which case we can save money by only carrying 24 players on the active roster.
chances of making the squad
Obviously its going to come down to spring training performance and avoiding injuries, but was wondering who everyone likes to make the 25 man and rank their chances. The guys fighting for the spot of 4th or 5th OF/pinch hitter. The candidates are Von Emry, delwyn Young, Moss, Jones(the guy from the bravos), and raynor. Am I missing anyone? I’m assuming church has a spot and tabata starts in AAA, which I believe are safe assumptions.

"Am I missing anyone?"
If you’re assuming Clement as 1B, Church is probably the 4th OF.
Pearce is also notionally in the mix, though he’d probably need a hell of a spring to win the job.
i love van every- ok love is too strong- but i like him more than Vazquez and DY (and Crosby, but I assume he’s not going anywhere as backup SS). But, equally, I don’t see him making the 25 man, because we arent going to start dumping people (apparently). If we do, I still want Vazquez off 1st.
I think he'd be hard-pressed to make the roster out of ST
But how many people here expected G. Jones and Salazar to get callups last year? You never know who’s going to pull a hammy or catch the flu.
You can hear someone on the video saying he’s only throwing about 60, which might explain why he looks that way.

Someone in the video does say that, but looking at the Gameday and the video they had on MLB.com they have him between 76 and 79 for the most part, and hitting 81 on his last pitch.
There’s actually one play in the game where Van Every pitches, then ball is hit to Javier Lopez, and Akinori Iwamura scores a run.

The bit where they said he was throwing 60...
…comes when he’s warming up. He probably wasn’t throwing max-effort at that point.
