FanGraphs has a neat post on splits and their inevitable
"regression to the mean." It's just something to think about when we talk about guys like Garrett Jones, Ryan Church, Jeff Clement, Bradon Moss, and Steve Pearce.

Fangraphs also makes a very good point on home and road splits. Just because they are extreme doesn’t imply that the road line is a player’s true talent, because players always hit better at home.

I still wouldn’t want Hank Blalock on the Pirates, but when I point out his .308 wOBA outside of Arlington, that does not fully represent his true talent level. He would most likely hit somewhat better than this figure at PNC park if it was his home, just like most players do.

I haven’t paid enough attention to either the platoon or home/road specifics Fangraphs outlines here.
