Free Yahoo Keeper League

I'm looking for fantasy managers who are committed to the idea of a competitive and highly involved league.

Star-divide

It's a 12-team, rotisserie league without

undroppable players (as commish I will not let someone drop a top-tier fantasy player without good cause - i.e. season ending injury). Players become free agents in the league as soon as Yahoo adds them to their database and they have gone through the waivers process. This first year will be free, but if you wish to remain playing (keeping your team), then next year you will have to pay a nominal fee (probably $25). If this sounds interesting, please email me at panamaine10@yahoo.com.

I’m interested and will send an email, but I have two comments:

1) Aren’t you worried that people will draft poorly, then quit for the second year if their team sucks? How would we handle teams that quit? Put their players back in a pool?

2) Any thought to a modified keeper? I’m in a league where we keep a max of 5 players for three years. Only guys drafted in 6th round or later are eligible to be kept. It’s pretty fun, and it really creates interesting picks in the first few keeper rounds.

ACTUALLY: A few guys dropped out of my modified keeper because they weren’t interested enough to keep up with the 6 of us that were really into it. If anyone is interested in joining a league like that ($20 entry), let me know. I could send you a list of available players / proposals for getting new teams in.

Hey, glad you’re interested. Let me address your questions as you numbered them:

1) Yea, there is a problem with people quitting for the season whether because of bad drafting or injury issues. What I would suggest is first try to find another manager for the club, if we, for whatever reason, cannot find a replacement then, yes, I think it would only be fair to put the players back into the pool. Honestly, this could happen, but that’s why this first year is free and hopefully we will weed out anyone who isn’t serious about this during this time.

2) As far as how the keeper league works, I was planning on putting that up to a vote at the end of this season. My plan is holding on to at least 8 players per team and allowing us to keep those players as long as the manager likes. I know this may make, seemingly, less palatable for those with a bad team, but, the point is to find people that really care about the game and might look forward to that kind of challenge (personally, I am one of those people). Again, this is all up to a vote at the end of the season.

Thanks for your interest.
