OK they finally

dropped the political talk show audio, Delwyn walks and Cutch is on second, Church singles to right and the bases are juiced for Jones

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:10 PM EDT reply actions

Bases juiced – no outs. Go Bucs!

by RDV across the sea on Mar 20, 2010 1:10 PM EDT reply actions

Jones

sac fly scores Cutch and advances Scrappy

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:11 PM EDT reply actions

a perfect DP ball

“booted” by Ty Wigginton, Doumit reaches and Young scores. 2-0 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:12 PM EDT reply actions

Crosby

strikes out quickly. Moss grounds out to short. 2-0 Pirates, Morton to pitch.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:14 PM EDT reply actions

Young

dives and gets the Pié grounder, but can’t get the throw to first in time. Then he steals second.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:18 PM EDT reply actions

Morton

goes full but walks Jones. Markakis pops out to Moss.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:23 PM EDT reply actions

Tejada

GIDP, 6-3 to end the inning. 2-0 Pirates, Walker, Carlin, Cutch due up.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:25 PM EDT reply actions

Walker

flies out. Carlin lines it into the left field corner, he’s in with a double.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:28 PM EDT reply actions

I just read on Pirates Report...

that Vasquez has been scratched from today’s start amid trade rumors. Baltimore is looking for IF so this makes sense. I It would be nice if we could get anything for him.

by Slick1 on Mar 20, 2010 1:29 PM EDT reply actions

McCutchen

flies out deep, but into the wind. Sounds like Walk’s wind hiatus is over.

Scrappy pops out in the infield to end the half. 2-0 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:31 PM EDT reply actions

Luke Scott

sky-high popup, Carlin bobbles but still makes the catch. One down.

1-2 pitch apparently “grazes” Wieters. He’s on first.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:35 PM EDT reply actions

DP

6-4-3 to end the inning. Church, Jones, Doumit due up, still 2-0 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:36 PM EDT reply actions

Church

flies one to left, the wind made it interesting. Jones swings at two poor pitches then watches strike three. Apparently there is some “ice cold beer” near. Doumit strikes out swinging. 2-0 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:41 PM EDT reply actions

Wigginton

grounds to second. Izturis flies to Moss.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:45 PM EDT reply actions

Pié

another infield single. Morton goes full on Jones, and gets him looking on a breaking ball on the outside corner. Nice inning from Charlie, even though the Jones at bat was extended, still a pretty efficient inning. End of the third, 2-0 Pirates. Crosby, Moss, Walker due up.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:53 PM EDT reply actions

Crosby

lines out to Izturis. I guess I missed Moss, and Walker grounds out. That was a quick one. Here comes Morton again.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 1:57 PM EDT reply actions

Morton

full count on Markakis, swinging strike three one down. Tejada must have gotten out. Morton goes full on Scott, who homers to right, sounded like a legit HR. 2-1 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:06 PM EDT reply actions

0-2 offspeed pitch

Ks Wieters. Nice inning, HR notwithstanding…four done, Carlin, McCutchen, Young due up, 2-1 Pirates.

Charlie's

put together a nice under-the-radar spring so far. I could care less who the 5th is if Charlie puts it together.

It's a good day to be a Pirate

by Bucko on Mar 20, 2010 2:11 PM EDT reply actions

And he does a fairly good job blogging at PiratesReport as well. A little bit more of the off field than team oriented stuff for my liking but good to see either way.

by MDBuc on Mar 20, 2010 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Carlin

swinging strikeout. McCutchen goes 0-2, then works it full, but pops out to Izturis.

I’ve got to agree about Morton. I’m really excited to see what he does this year.

vazquez

apparantly during yesterdays game, took a bad hop to a very painful area, imo the cup. per dk at the pbc blog. the o’s in need of 2nd baseman, playing cards close to chest.

by karreemofwheat on Mar 20, 2010 2:16 PM EDT reply actions

Cringe

I want to see him gone, I don’t want to see him soprano.

by MDBuc on Mar 20, 2010 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Mickolio in to pitch

from Montana—not many baseballers from the Big Sky state, I imagine. Gets Young to end the half. 2-1 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:18 PM EDT reply actions

poorboywilly thanks before you leavefor all you do.

by karreemofwheat on Mar 20, 2010 2:22 PM EDT reply actions

no problem

Izturis grounds out, Reimold scores, Wigginton to third, one out.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:24 PM EDT reply actions

Morton gets Pié

Wigginton stays at third, but Morton has reached his pitch count

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:26 PM EDT reply actions

vazquez update

out with sore collarbone/shoulder, nothing in the works. apparently misjudgement of hit zone by dk

by karreemofwheat on Mar 20, 2010 2:27 PM EDT reply actions

Powell pitching

E6…Jones safe at first, Wigginton scores. Morton leaves with 3 R, two earned. Powell gets a grounder and tags Markakis, end of the fifth now 3-2 Orioles. Church, Jones, Doumit due up.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:32 PM EDT reply actions

Crosby strikes out

Moss grounds to third…way to strand some runners guys.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:43 PM EDT reply actions

Moss now 1 for 26. On the bright side, a 5 for 5 day would get him near the Mendoza line.

by jmarter on Mar 20, 2010 2:44 PM EDT reply actions

Carrasco in to pitch

I think Tejada flied out to Starling Marte, who is in center now. D.J. gets Scott looking on the inside corner. Wieters singles to center.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:49 PM EDT reply actions

Walker grounds out

to Wigginton, Carlin line drive single to left field. Starling Marte to the plate.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:56 PM EDT reply actions

Marte

(they keep calling him marTE when it has to be MARte…I can’t find any reference of his name with an accent on the e) breaks his bat on a liner to left-center, making a single.

Young chops to Wigginton, who gets Marte but cannot get Young. Steve Pearce to hit…who quickly pops to shallow right. End of the half, still 3-2.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 2:59 PM EDT reply actions

Shelby Ford at 2B, Brian Myrow at first, Héctor Giménez at C, Pearce in RF. Carrasco still pitching, goes full on Wigginton then beans him.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:03 PM EDT reply actions

Neil Walker to second

Ford drops the ball on the exchange and can’t go for two. Izturis safe at first.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:06 PM EDT reply actions

Tucker makes an out

Adam Jones walks. Markakis lines out to Shelby Ford. 3-2 Orioles.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:13 PM EDT reply actions

Doumit

ground rule double to center field. Raynor pinch running.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

Crosby reaches

didn’t hear how…Orioles pitching change

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:19 PM EDT reply actions

nothing must have come of that

Still 3-2 Orioles, bottom eighth. Jakubauskas pitching, Brock Holt in at SS. He gets a grounder right off the bat (pun intended) and skies it into the stands. Moore safe at first.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:25 PM EDT reply actions

sorry

that is, Moore makes it to second on the errant throw. Holt gets another grounder, throws to Walker and they get Moore. Snyder makes it to second on the rundown.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Wieters grounds out to Ford

Snyder advances to third. Two outs. Four pitch walk to Dan Figueroa, Paco Figueroa up to bat with runners on first and third.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:32 PM EDT reply actions

Paco Figueroa

doubles in two runs. 5-2 Orioles.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:34 PM EDT reply actions

flyout

to Marte. Top of the ninth, last chance for the Bucs: Walker, Giménez and Marte due up.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:36 PM EDT reply actions

Walker

makes the first out. Giménez base hit to left.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:40 PM EDT reply actions

Marte

grounds into fielder’s choice. Two outs. Shelby Ford up.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:42 PM EDT reply actions

Ford basehit!

Marte gets to third. Pearce up as the tying run.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:45 PM EDT reply actions

Orioles

bring in a righty to pitch…who gets Pearce to ground out to third. Orioles win 5-2.

by poorboywilly on Mar 20, 2010 3:49 PM EDT reply actions

Anyone surprised that Jones was at 1B today instead of RF?? Or was there anything mentioned on the broadcast about it??

by Thunder on Mar 20, 2010 7:04 PM EDT reply actions

He needs some time there. They’ve said all along that could be the ultimate outcome.
