The Pirates have cut Kevin Hart; Daniel McCutchen will be the fifth starter. This is as it should be--the Pirates aren't giving up on Hart, but there's no reason he can't sort out his problems in the minors rather than every fifth day in the majors. 

Also cut were catcher Hector Gimenez, utilityman Neil Walker, first baseman Brian Myrow, and pitchers Chris Jakubauskas, Brian Burres, Wilfredo Ledezma and Jean Machi. No huge surprises there, except in that I thought Jakubauskas and Machi might have a shot at the last job in the bullpen.
