Dodgers are shopping Hu?
Hu wasn't amazing offensively in AAA last year but he was far from terrible hitting a respectable .294. The big thing I like about Hu is that he is a legitimate major league defender. I don't think he would cost too much so I really hope NH is on the phone.

The Dodgers had reportedly “balked” at an offer of Jack Wilson for Hu, Delwyn Young, and possibly another player last offseason.
If Hu is available for cheap I’d be very interested in picking him up and dumping Argenis Diaz. Diaz’s value is completely tied up in his defensive ability, but it’s doubtful that he’ll ever be better than Hu is right now on that side, and Hu also has at least managed to not look pathetic offensively. Even if he’s ultimately just a bench player, he has significant glove value.
Hu and Jack Wilson are very comparable:
CHONE:
Wilson: -18 bat, +9 glove
Hu: -20 bat, +11 glove
Cedeno: -18 bat, -1 glove
Crosby: -17 bat, -6 glove
ZiPS:
Wilson: 72 OPS+ and very good glove
Hu: 74 OPS+ and very good glove
Cedeno: 78 OPS+ and fair glove
Crosby: 78 OPS+, and average glove
He definitely looks worth pursuing to me (depending on the cost), and just might be an upgrade to the Cedeno/Crosby mess.

I'd take him on waivers...
…or pay a minimal price to get him. He’s worth having on a roster.
Our past interest in him is worth keeping in mind.
The glove...
makes him worth a little more than minimal price I would think. He’s not a top prospect anymore but we have a few of those as well.
Something along the lines of what we paid for Young.
A fringe-at-best prospect and a small amount of cash.
Their 40 is tight...
…and they have several non-roster guys who are probably going to end up needing spots on the 40-man. That, and they have good SS depth in the system. Furcal’s entrenched as the starter, DeJesus is good enough to cover in case of injury, and Gordon’s their long-term answer at the position.
Might be worth a punt...
as a good glove/weak hitting shortstop can play in the NL. Of course it’s not ideal — especially when the rest of the lineup isn’t exactly Murderer’s Row — but Hu’s MiL numbers aren’t terrible for a slick-fielding SS.
His K-rate has been respectable and scouts feel he has good bat & strike zone control, so at least he wouldn’t be a complete black hole in the 8-spot. Maybe he is the Taiwanese Jack Wilson…
