"It's a weird situation," Jaramillo said. "I want to keep my skills fresh, but I think I have something to offer to the Major League club. I think I can be a contributor up here. But it's out of my control. I try not to lose sleep over it."
Seems that the Bucs are hoping against hope that nothing happens to Doumit.
If the Pirates do option Jaramillo to Triple-A, the club would take either Erik Kratz or Luke Carlin to serve as the team's second catcher. Neither is as polished a backstop as Jaramillo, but the Pirates would love to have Doumit catching 130-140 games, assuming he can stay healthy.
