Keppinger

reaches on error. Towles out. Pence four pitch walk. Blum Ks swinging.

Who made the error?

by jmarter on Mar 29, 2010 1:17 PM EDT up reply actions

guess they scored it a hit

I just barely started up the audio and heard “and Clement can’t pull the ball out of the dirt” or something like that, so I’m not really sure what happened.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Looks like it was a passed ball on a strikeout.

by jmarter on Mar 29, 2010 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Nope, they do have a hit for Keppinger

by jmarter on Mar 29, 2010 1:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Nate McLouth Sr.

grounds out to LaRoche; Iwamura, McCutchen and Jones due up.

Speaking of Jones, where is Brandon Jones? I haven’t even heard mention of him for weeks, and I don’t recall him being cut.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:16 PM EDT reply actions

He was among the first cuts.

by psudynasty on Mar 29, 2010 1:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Brandon had a knee issue at the start of camp. I think he got in a game or two last week and then I’m not sure what happened.

by curvefan on Mar 29, 2010 1:25 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

He looked like a boob on that triple play the other days. I’m sure that, coupled with the knee, is what got him sent down.

Free your ass and your mind will follow.

McCutchen skies a homer. Guess the lineup was a good idea.

Jones is on second

Ryan Doumit has walked. Keep it going.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:25 PM EDT reply actions

pop fly to right. Jones moves up to third.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:25 PM EDT reply actions

singles into right. Jones scores, Doumit to second.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:27 PM EDT reply actions

Clement is really getting it going with the bat

by curvefan on Mar 29, 2010 1:30 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

four pitch walk

to Johnson. Ugh. Three run lead, walk the leadoff batter…that is so Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:37 PM EDT reply actions

Is this one on the radio?

by PensFan024 on Mar 29, 2010 1:40 PM EDT reply actions

They’ve got talk radio on.

by PensFan024 on Mar 29, 2010 1:43 PM EDT up reply actions

fox sports 970?

that’s what the schedule I downloaded before ST started says at least.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t have a subscription for that. It won’t be a problem once the regular season comes around.

by PensFan024 on Mar 29, 2010 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions

just thought

I’d clarify how it is I’m listening to it, yet have no idea where it is coming from

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:56 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s on 970am. thank goodness for iheartradio.

Shelton out

Chacin

pokes a basehit through the right side. Johnson moves up to third.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:42 PM EDT reply actions

McCutchen

pops up in foul ground but Shelton drops it, E3. Next pitch McCutchen triples to left center. Someone is ready for the season :)

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:51 PM EDT reply actions

Can McCutchen hit for the meaningless spring training cycle?

Stay tuned!

by Schide on Mar 29, 2010 1:52 PM EDT reply actions

Garrett Jones

two run HR. Apparently barely missed Bob Walk’s car (or else they were joking about that). They were saying probably would have been a “regular” HR, but the wind pushed it to ridiculous status.

Doumit lines in a double now.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:54 PM EDT reply actions

LaRoche

“excellent play” on a Towles groundout. Pence ground singles to left.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 1:59 PM EDT reply actions

save some runs for the rest of the spring guys!

by agent00 on Mar 29, 2010 2:01 PM EDT reply actions

you can’t stop clement, you can only hope to contain him!

by agent00 on Mar 29, 2010 2:09 PM EDT reply actions

LaRoche

homers to right, nicely wind blown.

7-0 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:09 PM EDT reply actions

Maholm

“slaps” a single into right. Chacin is chased out.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:12 PM EDT reply actions

Iwamura

homers to right. 10-0 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:15 PM EDT reply actions

Walk: Iwamura’s HR “was pretty legit”, Jones “probably would have made it over the wall”, the others “I don’t know”.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Obviously

The new lineup will lead to at least 800 runs this year. Good move JR.

by psudynasty on Mar 29, 2010 2:16 PM EDT reply actions

top of the fourth

Shelton and Maysonet both get line drive singles. First and second, no outs.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:26 PM EDT reply actions

Astros score a run

Towles grounds into inning ending DP, 6-4-3. Milledge, Clement, LaRoche due up.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:30 PM EDT reply actions

Clement

drives it over Maysonet’s head in left, drives in Milledge. Walk: “that’s the kind of hit that is so impressive, the hitter stays in and stays compact and drives the ball with authority to the opposite field”

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:36 PM EDT reply actions

11-1 Pirates

bottom of the fifth. Iwamura singles to right.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:50 PM EDT reply actions

McCutchen reaches first

Iwamura safe at second on a Johnson throwing error on fielders choice

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:52 PM EDT reply actions

Doumit

doubles down the line in right. Iwamura scores, 12-1 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 2:54 PM EDT reply actions

Looks like Huntington’s job is safe. Whew!

by maguro on Mar 29, 2010 3:06 PM EDT reply actions

this is only one game….we have a WHOLE SPRING TRAINING worth of stats to look at. Yep, Huntington still has to go.

by Jay32600 on Mar 29, 2010 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Dotel in

pitches a perfect sixth. 12-1 Pirates.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 3:08 PM EDT reply actions

Obviously

the players read Smizik’s article and realized the importance of spring statistics. Better pad your [meaningless] stats or Grumpy Old Bob will be calling for YOU to be fired!

by King Oskar on Mar 29, 2010 3:12 PM EDT reply actions

LaRoche

Vazquez, Crosby go down in order. Crosby must feel bad being the only starter not to hit.

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 3:15 PM EDT reply actions

Well, it’s not like you can expect anything from the #9 hitter.

by biggyv on Mar 29, 2010 3:17 PM EDT up reply actions

surely

if the pitcher was hitting there, he would have gotten out each time and left the top of the lineup with no one on base

by poorboywilly on Mar 29, 2010 3:20 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ve just seen this ST performance, and all I can say is 100 wins will happen this year!!!111oneone
