According to Rob Bietempfel's tweet. This should make several people on BD very happy. It should come as no surprise to most that personally, I hope he clears waivers - but I don't think he will.
Guess that is going to be the 40-man decision in regards to Penn, but couldn't they have waited & put Ascanio on the 60-day?
He also notes:
If/when JJ goes to Triple-A, Erik Kratz likely would be backup catcher -- which would require another 40-man roster move.
