Yankees Defeat Pirates

6-3. Colin Curtis hit a three-run, walkoff homer off Virgil Vasquez in the ninth. The Pirates somehow scored three runs despite recording only three hits and no walks; Erik Kratz had a double and two RBIs. Andrew McCutchen and Jose Tabata each went 1-for-2. Jean Machi struck out two batters in a scoreless inning. Not a lot to highlight here, although it's nothing to be too concerned about, either.

I’m so done with this team.

I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

2007 Interleague play

When the Pirates dropped 3 to the Yankees in Yankee Stadium during Interleague Play in 2007, Yankee fans chanted "AAA, AAA, AAA’.

If those things offend people perhaps the answer is that the Pirates should field a competitive product instead of being a perennial doormat?

Perception is reality.

Perception is reality

So you really ARE a broken record?

Its sad they played pretty much an even game with a AAA team until Virgil Vasquez started pitching.

I watched 90% of this game and didn’t learn much. Clement seemed fine at 1st from what I saw (small sample size) and the pitching looked good other than Jackson and especially Vasquez. I liked what I saw from Jakubauskas, who seemed to do a good job pitching himself out of a jam.

In 2007

They had Jason Bay, Xavier Nady, Nate McLouth, Freddy Sanchez, Jack Wilson, Tom Gorzelanny, Ian Snell, Damaso Marte, Adam LaRoche, John Grabow, Jose Bautista, and Ronny Paulino.

It’s amazing that those players were AAA players in 2007 (since perception is reality) and yet after they all got traded the perception was that the Pirates were trading away all their best players. So the reality is that the Pirates and the players they had were no good until they got rid of them, then they were good veteran players, since that seems to be what the perception is.

Also....

Perception, at least the way you’re using it, means “a way of regarding, understanding or interpreting something, a mental impression”. Reality means “the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them”. It sounds to me like perception and reality can’t be the same, so that statement is complete and utter nonsense.

Weird that the bad ol’ Nuttings weren’t the ones mostly responsible for the 2007 team. Or that the trading off of those “AAA” players is what’s set off this firestorm.

The Yankees were supposed to trounce the Pirates that year

And if you look at the wins the Yankees had in the series, they were all blowouts.
