I ran across this blog post about a new book that "celebrates the 1960 Pirates, their Mormon ace and how they influenced a young Catholic boy in Pittsburgh." I particularly liked this bit, which I hadn't heard before: "Law was hurt when teammates, celebrating their pennant win with beer and champagne on Sept. 25, 1960, tried to rip his shirt off on the team bus. Law resisted, in part because he was protective of his temple garment." The injury forced him to pitch in pain during the World Series, which led to a torn rotator cuff. There's some interesting glimpses in the story about the challenges and struggles Law faced.
