Around SBN: The Week In Worst: When Baseball Goes Wrong

I don't have any details on the situation either, so I won't comment other than to say that the Pirates have been in this situation before.

They said they expect him back for his next start, so it seems like maybe he just had a legitimate issue and he needed to run home for a day or two. My mind did immediately tell me otherwise, though.

Huh

Apparently it’s very important over at Lookout Landing to use subject lines for comments, even goofy one-liners.

The internets is weird.

I’ve seen some SBN blogs where they don’t care so much about regular comments, but if you’re posting a picture, god help you if you don’t put in a subject line.

he left his last start

after only pitching 78 through three innings. Of course he had given up five runs, four earned. But still, without having to worry about the pitcher hitting you’ve got to wonder how he felt about being yanked. This certainly bears watching.

Starting pitcher Ian Snell has temporarily left the Mariners following a death in his family that he learned of after the game on Sunday.

Snell, who has had difficulty in both his starts this season, was also dealing with a separate personal issue that occurred a “couple of days ago” according to Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu. He has flown to Florida to deal with the issues.

Wakamatsu said he anticipates Snell making his next start on Saturday against Detroit. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA after two starts this season. It was a mighty struggle for Snell on Sunday. So much so that Wakamatsu, concerned about Snell’s velocity, made a trip to the mound instead of pitching coach Rick Adair.
