Minor League Notes
A few links from around the minor and independent leagues:
Scoreboard | Bradenton Marauders Blow Out Fort Myers in Inaugural Game
The Class+ Bradenton Marauders won 18-3 in their debut game against Fort Myers, who started 2009 first-rounder Kyle Gibson. Jeremy Farrell homered twice, and Quincy Latimore and Robbie Grossman also homered. Bryan Morris allowed two unearned runs, but it looks like he actually pitched very well--he struck out five batters and walked none.
Scoreboard | Indianapolis Loses to Columbus, 17-4
Indianapolis was blown out last night, with Vinnie Chulk and Jeremy Powell allowing 13 runs between them, but Pedro Alvarez homered in his first Class AAA game. Brad Lincoln will start tonight.
Revs Unveil Latest Preseason Signings
Former Pirates minor league pitchers Wardell Starling, Brian Holliday and Stephen MacFarland are all in camp for the independent York Revolution. Starling was a former fourth-round draft pick and fringe product; MacFarland was sent from the Bucs to the Giants in the Matt Morris trade.
Ex-Big Leaguer Britton Joins Saltdogs
Reliever Chris Cullen, who was just cut from Pirates minor league camp after pitching for Lynchburg last year, has joined the Lincoln Saltdogs.

Brian Holliday
pitched a no-no against us in HS. Was always rooting for him, though, despite that fact.
Is it just me or does Bradenton seem terribly loaded?
Not only are Sanchez and Marte starting there but to add Latimore and Grossman too means that I am going to be checking their box score a lot.

First, a friend of mine works for Manatee County and he was at the inaugural Marauders game. The first homer Farrell hit was a grand slam, and he said the second one was a BOMB.
Second, it’ll be interesting to see those former Bucs in York. I work in the front office for the Lancaster Barnstormers and their our rival…
Farrell has another one tonight, a 3-run HR. That’s ten RBIs after less than a game and a half.

And he just hit #3
A 3-run shot. That’s 3 for 7, 3 HR, 7 RBI, and 2 BB in a game and a half thus far at AAA.
