The three main hitting prospects left at AAA Indianapolis are Jose Tabata, Neil Walker and Pedro Alvarez. Here's video of two of their recent games condensed into 4 or 5 minutes each game.
Jose Tabata - A line drive hitter who is stealing a lot of bases this year, but generally has around a 20% extra base hit rate (XBH). This means 80% of his hits are singles. He's surprisingly fast and gets a fair amount of infield singles, and you'll see evidence of that in the video.
Neil Walker - An overall good hitter at this point who bats both righty and lefty. A 50% XBH rate would surely look great in the Pirates' lineup right now!
Pedro Alvarez - An impressive power hitter who is struggling with strikeouts, lefties, and identifying breaking pitches in general. You'll see him freeze on curve balls and unless he's looking for it, he can't adjust right now.
May 17 against Toledo....
May 18 against Scranton Wilkes Barr
Of these prospects, Neil Walker seems to be next in line to get the call up. How do you think he'll do in MLB?
