Believe it or not folks, we are approaching June 1st very rapidly, less than one month away. This date could mean oodles of importance to the Pittsburgh Pirates future. It is pretty much the first day that we can begin the "Pedro Watch" Jose Tabata, Pedro Alvarez and Brad Lincoln most likely will get recalled sometime in June. But we'll need 25 man roster spots for all three. Assuming that Steve Pearce is already on the roster for Brian Bass, the Pirates would not be carrying an extra pitcher and so the option of demoting an extra pitcher is not valid. I assume Lincoln will replace either Brian Burres or Jeff Karstens (though with Ross Ohlendorf coming back its highly likely that one will be sent down for Ohllie, the other for Lincoln. So now you need two spots, one for Pedro, and one for Tabata. The two guys I think will go are Jeff Clement (optioned to AAA) and Ryan Church (trade or DFA if we can't find a suitable trade partner) Though I would not be surprised if Akinori Iwamura was traded or maybe even Andy LaRoche. More likely LaRoche stays to play second and Aki is dealt.
What moves will we make to provide spots for our top prospects and the future of our franchise?
