Giants Blog: Huntington Acknowledges Mistake, Moves On
This is a great read about Neal Huntington and Brian Sabean, their relationships with the media of their respective cities, and Huntington's willingness to admit his mistakes and clear space for top prospects like Pedro Alvarez. It's from a Giants blog, and it's surprisingly positive regarding Huntington. Lost in all the hullabaloo over the Huntington and Russell extensions, the losing streak, and Alvarez's promotion was the fact that, however big a mess Huntington might have made with Akinori Iwamura, he at least cleaned it up the right way, by opening spots in the lineup for Alvarez and Neil Walker. You'd think that picking the best players from the available options would be pretty easy, but some GMs can't even do that.

Nice, Thanks Charlie
The points you make are true. How many players did Littlefield block, McLouth, C. Wilson and Bautista come to mind. He held onto players like Burnitz, Simon, Randa and Ward too long.
Iwamura was a risk but it was worth taking since the Pirates didn’t have a real option at 2nd to start the season, they and all of us for that matter were hoping for better results, but it didn’t happen so you move on.
No one is perfect but everyone should try to be the best they can be.
Good article
And to me they point out why one GM is a top 10 GM (Huntington) and one is a bottom 5 GM (Sabean).
It’s very interesting to see what other writers think of NH. Somebody ought to share this quote w/ Smizik.
Yinzers uber alles
in fairness
Gobroks follows the Pirates quite a bit, so its not like he s entirely impartial, even though the Giants are his primary team…
Smizik would choke and die if someone shared this with him!

Obviously
This so-called “Giants blogger” is nothing more than a Nutting shill. Hasn’t he heard about “Liargate”?
It seems to me that a lot of people outside of Pittsburgh consider the Pirates in a good situation.
Everyone but yinzers, I guess.

I thought it was a good move at the time but the fact that they didnt give him a physical or see him in person is mind blowing to me as he was coming off that injury.
I think Walker’s emergence makes the whole thing a much easier pill to swallow because it worked out in the end, and essentially covered Huntington’s ass. However, I do think Neal’s Plan B the whole time was to move Andy when Pedro was ready. This just worked out even better.
RIP NATE. RIP TONY PLUSH.

Thanks for the shout-out
Like I said in the article, I’m a huge fan of NH-and I always like watching the Pirates play, if for no other reason than to see Andrew McCutchen.
