Best defense

From Baseball America

Hernandez isn't having the best year at the plate, but he showed why scouts still consider him among the best defensive outfielders in the minors.

This is a commentary about the Futures Game, in which Hernandez played center field for the World Team (and was retired by Bryan Morris's only pitch). We tend to forget that superior defensive skill can make a huge difference until we see its absence. It seems worth noting that Hernandez is one of several Curve players who had stellar Junes--including an uptick in his line drive percentage. While he may not bring key skills to the PBC because of McCutchen, history suggests that this skill set can be valuable.
