The link leads to the original story, and here's more from BUCCO Fans. Basically, it sounds like Kime wanted to go pro, came to an agreement quickly, then got frustrated about sitting around and waiting for the Pirates to call. UPDATE by Charlie: It's possible that MLB delayed the signing, although the comment from the Crescent News story that the Pirates told Kime they "weren't going to jump through hoops" is weird. It makes it sound possible that the Pirates dragged their feet because they wanted to, perhaps because they had other signings that were higher-priority. In the meantime, orientation came around at Louisville, where Kime had a scholarship, and he elected to go. Tired of waiting, he then put the Pirates on a deadline, which they said they would not meet. It's not clear whether he could still sign with the Pirates, since presumably he hasn't attended classes yet.
