I'm beginning to wonder if the All-Star format needs another bit of tweaking. This marks the second consecutive year that the Pirates lone representative did not play in the Midsummer Classic, and I find that very frustrating. I understand that the current format places winning above having all players actually involved, and that realistically, if the chips were down, I would want some players to play over others. That being said, if a player has warranted selection to play, barring injury, the player should play. Even if it's just pitching to one or two batters, if it's pinch running, being a 9th inning defensive substitute. What sort of honor is it, really, if the player is good enough to be there but not good enough to play? Your thoughts?
