Watching Ryan Church strike out at-bat after at-bat is more and more panful. He does not deserve a spot on a major league roster. It's doubtful he even deserves a spot as a starter on a AAA club. Brandon Moss, Brandon Jones, Jonathan Van Every, Brian Myrow. Give me even Brian Bixler! I'll take anyone but Church. I apologize for the rant but I couldn't handle watching him come to the plate and seeing that he is hitting dreadfully, Bixler-esque numbers. Worse than Akinori Iwamura. Church's numbers: (via MLB.com player page)
Average .189
Hits/At-Bats 31/164
HR 3
RBI 18
StrikeOuts(SO)/BB 42/11
SO/At-Bats 42/164=25.6% of the time. When have you had someone hit this poorly, strike out this often, be this old (31) thus having little-to-no future and still maintain a roster spot?
How much longer will we have to endure this?
