Pittsburgh bars?

I threw this out there on the game thread, which may have been inappropriate. Anyway, me and a bunch of friends are coming to the 'Burgh for the Mets series in August. Was wondering if anybody could recommend a couple good bars we should hit up while we're in town. Not looking for a "Jersey Shore"-type scene even though we are in fact childhood friends from the Jersey Shore (my family moved there from Brookline when I was 7). I would especially appreciate being directed to a bar with a great jukebox (The Replacements would be too much to ask for, but we need our Bruce and Who). Thanks a million!

Wikipedia says there are 80+ bars. I suspect there are more, all within along 15 or so blocks.

South Side

Fat Head’s (40-some taps) and Smokin’ Joe’s (maybe that many), but can’t speak to the jukebox in either, if they even have one.

Primanti’s, of course. Market Square. And Sharp Edge in the 900 block of Penn Ave. downtown, for the beer. Maybe Penn Brewery.

Oh, and no tourist visit should be complete without a trip to The Church.

Smoking Joe’s has an internet jukebox. You can play just about anybody & anything you want, even some more obscure songs if you’re willing to pay a little extra. I believe Fat Head’s does as well, but I spent a lot more time at Joe’s in my day…

Finnegan's Wake

It is across the street from PNC Park under the parking garage. It;s an Irish Pub with a few pool tables, great jukebox and never too crowded.

Since you are a Brookline native, try the Moonlite on Brookline BLVD. Nice local bar with a decent jukebox and great food. I would suggest “The Mother-in-Law”

Lefty's in the Strip District

On Sat AM go to the Strip District outdoor market and grab pepperoni rolls and other fine foods as you walk up and down the street. Then go to a little bar called Lefty’s that likely has the Replacements or at least that genre.

Yinzers uber alles

Thanks everybody

Looking forward to getting out there. Hopefully the Bucs will shame the Mets and ruin my friends’ visit.
