LOL!
Wow…Brendan Donnelly. I still find it hilarious that this was the guy who came in and was supposed to the so-called leader of the clubhouse and said that losing wasn’t acceptable and it’s time for guys to step up and quit accepting losing. Sure enough, he’s the first guy sent packing! Way to set an example, Brendan.
Yep
Good work from him. 3 BBs, but no damage done.,

WOW....
Great work by the pen so far……
As mentioned I’ll be hosting the post-game show on 104.7 and all the Pirates affiliates tonight in place of Rocco. Good night to chat so far. #s are 412-333-1047 and 800-507-1047 if you’re interested. We can’t talk about the Bucs being cheap and getting rid of clubhouse leader Donnelly and using these chumps Gallagher and Ledezma. Crazy talk.

Rockies announcers
The announcers really love Cutch. I’m not sure he’s the best in the NL defensively like they said but it’s great to hear the other announcers love one our own.
Yinzers uber alles
They’re just pissed that Cutch kicks ass and Fowler is in a major funk right now.

by BobPurkey34 on Jul 28, 2010 10:39 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah...
just being a realist here, but Cutch has some work to do. Look, there’s no doubt he’s the best player on this team and one of the best CF in the game (how he didn’t get any All-Star votes still baffles the heck outta me), but he makes plays that should be routine an adventure. Yes, he makes some great catches out there and can cover some serious ground, but I’m gonna hold off on calling him THE best defensive CF in the NL as of now.
Give the kid some slack. He IS only 23 and will improve a ton defensively just with time.

by BobPurkey34 on Jul 28, 2010 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions
That's what I was inferring.
He will definitely get better, but right now, he’s still learning on the fly a bit.
i agree he sometimes risks injury making those spectacular catches,
because of a late jump or bad route.

The rule in question (part of 6.06©):
If a batter strikes at a ball and misses and swings so hard he carries the bat all the way around and, in the umpire’s judgment, unintentionally hits the catcher or the ball in back of him on the backswing before the catcher has securely held the ball, it shall be called a strike only (not interference). The ball will be dead, however, and no runner shall advance on the play.
but at some point he secured the ball
because he threw it into right field
