That’s only if you’re too cheap to pay Donnelly’s incentives.

by WTM on Jul 28, 2010 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions

LOL!

Wow…Brendan Donnelly. I still find it hilarious that this was the guy who came in and was supposed to the so-called leader of the clubhouse and said that losing wasn’t acceptable and it’s time for guys to step up and quit accepting losing. Sure enough, he’s the first guy sent packing! Way to set an example, Brendan.

Well, Meek, Hanny, Ledezma and Dotel can all throw gas. Why can none of the starters?

Good night to chat so far. #s are 412-333-1047 and 800-507-1047 if you’re interested. by BobPurkey34 on Jul 28, 2010 10:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah...

just being a realist here, but Cutch has some work to do. Look, there’s no doubt he’s the best player on this team and one of the best CF in the game (how he didn’t get any All-Star votes still baffles the heck outta me), but he makes plays that should be routine an adventure. Yes, he makes some great catches out there and can cover some serious ground, but I’m gonna hold off on calling him THE best defensive CF in the NL as of now.

Were hard outs, but I’ll still take it as a first appearance in a long time in the majors. He was getting behind guys and that was why he got in trouble. On the bright side, he at least threw strikes when he needed to.

DY hit the catcher w/ the bat swinging after that pitch. The ball is dead.

The rule in question (part of 6.06©):

If a batter strikes at a ball and misses and swings so hard he carries the bat all the way around and, in the umpire’s judgment, unintentionally hits the catcher or the ball in back of him on the backswing before the catcher has securely held the ball, it shall be called a strike only (not interference). The ball will be dead, however, and no runner shall advance on the play.

but at some point he secured the ball

because he threw it into right field
