Watching Leo Nunez, a former prospect of the Pirates, mow down the Bucco batters today brought me back to the Dave Littlefield era. That botched trade (Nunez to Kansas City for an ancient Benito Santiago) was just one of the overseen moves, one of many moves that Littlefield made that set our team back. Jeromy Burnitz, Joe Randa, Jose Hernandez, Bobby Hill, Kip Wells, the list goes on and on thinking about this makes me appreciate NH. He's acquired young players opposed to older, more major league ready players. Littlefield was trying to win right then and there (I think he was...) but NH realizes that the major leagues had no talent whatsoever so we needed to scrap it and start over, NH has given me confidence in the future and the fact that we are actually getting recognized somewhat by the big critics in a positive light is something we haven't experienced since maybe the Barry Bonds era. I would give NH a vote of confidence and extend his contract through 2014. If the Pirates reach anything around .500 or above, then extend him longer, otherwise then you can say that NH's plan did not quite work out
