This smells like a loss, with Santana and Duke pitching and all, plus the Pirates being, well, the Pirates. I don’t understand why Doumit still needs to play everyday, and it’s even more reprehensible for him to be catching when you have a guy in Snyder who’s quintuple the defensive catcher and a better hitter than Doumit is.

I want September to get here already so we can get a look at Bowker in one of the RF/1B spots.

by Suffering Buc on Aug 22, 2010 12:22 PM EDT reply actions

I can see playing Doumit today….day game after a night game, back to back LHP starting v us….I understand that. Starting last night was a total mystery.

by NHpiratefan on Aug 22, 2010 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions

You said it all! DOH-mit will play almost every day, they are trying to pump up his numbers (HR) in a desperate attempt to lose some of his other numbers (salary). But I don’t think its going to work this time. NH should have left it to the imagination “Hey Nick Coletti, DOH-mit could break out with you guys if you put him in right field. Fields the position well too.”

please win

and avoid the (another) sweep.

Not sure.

But Reyes going to second definitely was.

Yeah

It would have been an out…if GFJ was 8 feet tall and had 3 foot long arms.

He threw the ball down the right field line.

Sounds like it was a false alarm, according to PiratesProspects.

Feliciano is being called up to replace the traded Rod Barajas, which is why he’s flying here. Article is here.

Personally, I wouldn’t want the guy. 31-year-old minor league lifer? No thanks.

Yeah

He’s a 4th/5th OF, really, and the Bucs have about 10 of those in the organization.

Uh-oh

They have Neil Walker mikes. Neil, remember: bite your tongue whenever the instinct to mutter “Stupid, &$@):-” manager. Stupid ;():/“@ Beasley. Crappy ()$&@”; Duke."

Well, that sucked.

Mets 0, Pirates 0. Ryan Doumit -1.

This seems like a good matchup for Cutch.

He really likes hitting LHPs.

Damn

Good thing Neil took that one high ball, or else that would have been 3Ks on 9 pitches.

Hot start boys!

by pittbluedevil on Aug 22, 2010 1:51 PM EDT reply actions

Not that one hit really matters at all, but it’s good to see Pete hit one pretty well off arguably the toughest southpaw in the league.

by Suffering Buc on Aug 22, 2010 2:46 PM EDT reply actions

Can you please shut up with the “DOH-mit” thing? It’s gotten tiresome.

by Suffering Buc on Aug 22, 2010 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions

well, that’s not very nice. I’m commenting only about an event that just happened in the game.

Anyway see above Suffering Buc wrote earlier:

There’s a difference between not-funny, repetitive nicknames and actual observations.

by Suffering Buc on Aug 22, 2010 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions

You were bitching and moaning about DOH-mit before the game even started.

Its not exactly fair to complain when someone complains about his position in the line up or hitting into a double play during game play.

Loosen’ up, my Suffering Buc Drama Queen friend!

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions

and when I was not even here, there were complaints apparently above about DOH-mit muffing a throw to first. You are the one who started all the negativity about DOH-mit with your complaints about him before the game started. You turned out to be right, of course, and so others including myself have commented on his sub-par play. Why don’t YOU say something nice about DOH-mit for a change if that’s how you really feel?

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Not that it matters here...

he also left the Rays...

… when they were losing badly. and thats when he lived not too far from St.Pete… he has a history of bailing, but i’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. but ask yourselves this; would he, larussa, torre or cox go out and manage the O’s or Pirates because they like to teach or do they want to go to established winners? just sayin.

by white angus on Aug 22, 2010 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah Man! Great shots by them!

Suffering Buc killed the fun and vibe on the blog by telling another Bucco fan to “shut up”.

Let’s try to get back into the game now!

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 3:09 PM EDT up reply actions

will Pirates keep him next year? Will they come up with a reason to make him back up infielder ?

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 3:40 PM EDT up reply actions

P.S. “LaRoche is completely hopeless” is exactly what the Dodgers thought when they traded him…

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 3:44 PM EDT up reply actions

…was that an audible “Let’s go Mets” chant I just heard in PNC?? sigh

by pittbluedevil on Aug 22, 2010 3:42 PM EDT reply actions

He is an outstanding pitcher, but

Hanrahan can’t close. I think we all know what’s going to happen here.

by Suffering Buc on Aug 22, 2010 3:44 PM EDT reply actions

Complaining about certain players and situations is part of the fun of “watching” the game together.

Try not to be such a wet blanket next game.

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions

You’re being childish. Bad nicknames get annoying. Ask anyone. Negative commentary is different than beating childish names into the ground. I can’t help you if you don’t understand that.

by Suffering Buc on Aug 22, 2010 3:52 PM EDT up reply actions

You are wrong. Everyone uses nicknames “JMac”, DOH-Mit, etc.

I like alot of your comments, but you are wrong to criticize others for the way they make comments, including giving nicknames. You pretty much killed the blog today.

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 3:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Gett over yourself

Don’t you have some more innocent players to smear over unsubstantiated PED use?

For the record, the only person who “killed” this game thread was you. What are you, 10 years old? Your posts are totally unreadable because you know nothing about anything. I really wish this blog had a “killfile” option….

by Wizard Imp on Aug 22, 2010 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

have not mentioned PED use in weeks, you must confusing with others who brought up Paulino suspension.

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Eh, I stopped coming as often because I’m sick of your whining. If that means anything. That and I got turned off to baseball at the beginning of the month, haha.

by ryebr3ad on Aug 22, 2010 4:05 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

haha. Maybe you are just sick of the Pirates losing, don’t shoot the messenger, unless you are mad at Suffering Buc for complaining about DOH-mit before the game, and for saying that Hanrahan would blow the save just before he got the save…

by BucsFaninCA on Aug 22, 2010 4:12 PM EDT up reply actions

FINAL POINT ON THIS MATTER - WE ARE ALL CHILDISH !

Watching baseball as adults is somewhat childish

Being overly fixated fans as adults is childish – especially on a team that hasn’t won in 18 years!

Hanging out in this blog instead of being with chicks is childish

And writing our feelings, anything from complaining about players, the manager, making up nicknames, saying “come on”, or even “raise it” when we win is all somewhat childish.

So if you are calling me childish, I can only say “it takes one to know one”

Man, Thole chokes way up on his bat. It looks silly.

Heyyyy

There’s our boy Jesus Feliciano.

by pittbluedevil on Aug 22, 2010 3:52 PM EDT reply actions

Feliciano’s contact rate is 97%, and his ISO is .092.

I’m pretty sure his goal is exactly what he did there: just don’t strike out, and don’t worry about where the ball goes when you hit it.
