This smells like a loss, with Santana and Duke pitching and all, plus the Pirates being, well, the Pirates. I don’t understand why Doumit still needs to play everyday, and it’s even more reprehensible for him to be catching when you have a guy in Snyder who’s quintuple the defensive catcher and a better hitter than Doumit is.
I want September to get here already so we can get a look at Bowker in one of the RF/1B spots.
I can see playing Doumit today….day game after a night game, back to back LHP starting v us….I understand that. Starting last night was a total mystery.

You said it all! DOH-mit will play almost every day, they are trying to pump up his numbers (HR) in a desperate attempt to lose some of his other numbers (salary). But I don’t think its going to work this time. NH should have left it to the imagination “Hey Nick Coletti, DOH-mit could break out with you guys if you put him in right field. Fields the position well too.”

Seems to think the Bucs could be trading for Jesus Feliciano:
Hell, I'd take JOSE Feliciano
at this point.

Sounds like it was a false alarm, according to PiratesProspects.
Feliciano is being called up to replace the traded Rod Barajas, which is why he’s flying here. Article is here.
Personally, I wouldn’t want the guy. 31-year-old minor league lifer? No thanks.
Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89
Hard work always beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.
Uh-oh
They have Neil Walker mikes. Neil, remember: bite your tongue whenever the instinct to mutter “Stupid, &$@):-” manager. Stupid ;():/“@ Beasley. Crappy ()$&@”; Duke."
Debbie Flaherty of Day Automotive
is the Sarah Palin of TV pitchwomen.
And James Spader doppelgänger Justin Case is getting really old.
Well, that sucked.
Mets 0, Pirates 0. Ryan Doumit -1.

This seems like a good matchup for Cutch.
He really likes hitting LHPs.

'Course, he didn't look wonderful right there...

Damn
Good thing Neil took that one high ball, or else that would have been 3Ks on 9 pitches.
Hot start boys!
I finally figured out Alvarez' swing - its reminiscent of a Cave Man wielding a club
whacking at vegetation or a wild boar.
Can you please shut up with the “DOH-mit” thing? It’s gotten tiresome.

There’s a difference between not-funny, repetitive nicknames and actual observations.

You were bitching and moaning about DOH-mit before the game even started.
Its not exactly fair to complain when someone complains about his position in the line up or hitting into a double play during game play.
Loosen’ up, my Suffering Buc Drama Queen friend!
and when I was not even here, there were complaints apparently above about DOH-mit muffing a throw to first. You are the one who started all the negativity about DOH-mit with your complaints about him before the game started. You turned out to be right, of course, and so others including myself have commented on his sub-par play. Why don’t YOU say something nice about DOH-mit for a change if that’s how you really feel?
Not that it matters here...
Lou Piniella retiring after today’s Cubs game due to family health issues. One of their coaches…Mike Quade…will manage the rest of the season.
Real...
he’s taken 2 leaves of absence over the last few weeks…both mother and father are in failing health.
he also left the Rays...
… when they were losing badly. and thats when he lived not too far from St.Pete… he has a history of bailing, but i’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. but ask yourselves this; would he, larussa, torre or cox go out and manage the O’s or Pirates because they like to teach or do they want to go to established winners? just sayin.
We scored 2 runs and pitching looks like will hold to 1 run
That’s our winning forumla!
He is an outstanding pitcher, but
Hanrahan can’t close. I think we all know what’s going to happen here.
Complaining about certain players and situations is part of the fun of “watching” the game together.
Try not to be such a wet blanket next game.
You’re being childish. Bad nicknames get annoying. Ask anyone. Negative commentary is different than beating childish names into the ground. I can’t help you if you don’t understand that.

You are wrong. Everyone uses nicknames “JMac”, DOH-Mit, etc.
I like alot of your comments, but you are wrong to criticize others for the way they make comments, including giving nicknames. You pretty much killed the blog today.
Gett over yourself
Don’t you have some more innocent players to smear over unsubstantiated PED use?
For the record, the only person who “killed” this game thread was you. What are you, 10 years old? Your posts are totally unreadable because you know nothing about anything. I really wish this blog had a “killfile” option….
Eh, I stopped coming as often because I’m sick of your whining. If that means anything. That and I got turned off to baseball at the beginning of the month, haha.

FINAL POINT ON THIS MATTER - WE ARE ALL CHILDISH !
Watching baseball as adults is somewhat childish
Being overly fixated fans as adults is childish – especially on a team that hasn’t won in 18 years!
Hanging out in this blog instead of being with chicks is childish
And writing our feelings, anything from complaining about players, the manager, making up nicknames, saying “come on”, or even “raise it” when we win is all somewhat childish.
So if you are calling me childish, I can only say “it takes one to know one”
RAISE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
