In the next ten years, do you see the Pirates ever having the ability to sign a player that came up through the Minor League system and plays at an All-Star level to multiple contract extensions until they retire? I understand that Pedro is a Boras client, and it will be almost impossible to sign him to an extension before he hits free agency. What about Andrew McCutchen? Or Jameson Taillon? Or Jose Tabata?
Do you think the Pirates would ever be in a financial position to start signing some of these players through some of their free agency years, or when 2016 hits, even if the Bucs are in contention for a championship and revenue increases, the team will inevitably have to be dismantled?
