Joe Posnanski has a great article over at Sports Illustrated. It inspired me to take a look at WAR statistics over at Fangraphs for Pirate position players and pitchers. No shocks there. Of course the pitching lines are dreadful, but as Vlad has argued adding pitching "is just going to be throwing money down the toilet until we improve the defense." So, assuming that we move Alvarez to first, Walker to third, and find a defense-first second-baseman or shortstop, who should it be? Here are some second base choices.
