Nutting has no shame!
The Nutting Pirates should be ashamed running out that pitiful team, day after day, while selling tickets by using the great Maz and 1960 team as a marketing ploy.
The good to come of honoring Maz, was the fact that bozo Bob Nutting was boo'd. What an embarassment!
I said before the year began that I knew this would be the worst PIrate team in my lifetime, but it could be the worst Pirate team EVER. It looks like that just may happen.
And lets remember folks. What you see is what you'll get next year. Cheap payroll, minor league talent, and cold and stale buns.
Look out 2020!

In other news, the Padres have a ten game losing streak
and they have about the same payroll that we do and about 3 less offensive weapons. Also in historical accuracy, Nutting became majority owner in 2007, the same time that DL was fired and money was being invested in players that have upside

I think Maz’s homer was in 1961. Nutting rewrote the history books to make a fast buck. I’m sure he’ll realize the “mistake” next year and make a another late-season windfall.
Beer mug
hopefully next year his crack promo team will get the scores right……. I mean come on…. only the Nutting Pirates would goof up something like that.
15-33 since the All-star break & 16-39 since the mid point….. Go bucs!
Right

The organization should only celebrate past players and events when the team is winning. It’s just crude to put up a Maz statue on the fiftieth anniversary of his historic home run. The Pirates should wait until the team is winning even if the wait carries them past Maz’s death. He’ll really appreciate the gesture after he’s dead. I’m sure that’s why he cried during the ceremony. He was overwhelmed by the tastelessness of the Pirates who would erect a statue in his honor when the team was not winning.
Bad Pirates. Bad.

THIS
The pirates should cease all activity and disband until they start winning. At that time they can start playing baseball again.
Nutting should sell the team, with a caveat that any owner who doesn’t win within 3 years has to strip the roster and sell the team if they then can’t win in 3 years. That way we’ll contend for sure.

He reminds me of this tool
named Allesandro on the facebook page. Same posting ‘strategy’. The only difference is, Allesandro thinks Adam Hyzdu is better than Pedro.
This man is 30-something, by the way.
Allesandro actually posted a plan one time. It wasn’t a good one (he and Littlefield would be good friends), but it was a plan nonetheless. For that, I have to give him some (very little) credit. BFD gets none.
Pirates, Vikings, Hokies. I'm used to heartbreak. At least I have the Penguins....

Maz's home run
was in 1960; the first hit of that world series was by #9 also, Roger Maris of the Yankees and it was really nice that the last hit was by #9, Bill Mazeroski, of the Pirates. Just a another baseball odd happening.

Also, why don't you ever post in the game threads?
If you’re only here because ‘I called you an idiot’, yet stick around to teach us a lesson or whatever your asperger’s syndrome convinces you is the right thing to do, why not do something constructive here?
Hey, ease up on Asperger's people.
I happen to be one.
Still, I join you in calling BFD an idiot.

Funny how so many boo the man associated with 14 years of the futility streak, but you 2 clowns defend him
Go back to the hillbilly hills with him!

Hey, there's a threat.
We can ban him now, right?

Funny how a man who had been majority owner for three years gets blamed solely for 14 years of the losing.
That, again, is why I call you an idiot.
Also, keep the threats coming. I haven’t been in a scrap in about a year, so feel free to slap me. I mean, I might hit back, but I just have to defend myself, you know.

Also, I don’t defend Nutting. If you weren’t an idiot (meaning you have reading comprehension), you would realize we don’t care about who owns the team. If Mario buys, and keeps the current plan going, I’ll be perfectly fine with it.
by ryebr3ad on Sep 6, 2010 4:14 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Rye
if Mario or any owner interested in winning bought the team, the current cheap “plan” go go out the window and the team wouldn’t make history annually
Out of curiosity, was Heredia signed for shuts and giggles, or is signing a 3 million dollar Latin player not considered ‘trying to win’?
Of course, if the Pirates didn’t sign him, I’m sure it would have been used against ownership.
by ryebr3ad on Sep 6, 2010 4:32 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Ohhh yes
That tiny signing surely makes up for A dead last payroll dumbass!
Stupid shit comments like that are laughable enabler!

Also, I asked if signing the top Latin American player is considered an attempt to win. Allie and Taillon as well.
You gonna answer that, or keep attacking those poor straw men?

It is the cheap
easy way to claim they are trying to win w/o fielding a team with an avg. Payroll
Spending 10 million while saving 40 on the mlb payroll is a 30 million savings a-hole
actually that is $9,000,960 in losses
but how do you come up with the $40 Million being saved on the MLB payroll. Also when you have a young team with a lot of years of team control left, the payroll tends to be low

You
sir just posted nutting excuse # 3 for the pitifully low payroll
that is not an excuse that is a fact
the Rays before this year were always in the bottom five of payroll, the Padres are something like 28 this year, Marlins have always won with a low payroll, A’s under Billy Beane have had a low payroll. So what are you going to make up next

I'm not sure

B-nut
well
Nutting payroll= 40 million
Avg payroll = 85 ish million
Similar sized mkts payroll 80-90 million
BTW- every team signs their picks . That expense is NOT unique to B-nut
no not every team does sign there picks
the Brewers didn’t sign there’s this year, many teams have sandwhich picks year after year where they don’t sign players. What team in a small market like Pittsburgh’s has a payroll of 80-90 mil. The Twins Mauer, Cuddyer, Orlando Hudson, Kubel, JJ Hardy, Brian Fuentes and Carl Pavano are the only guys on the active roster who make over $4 million this year.

I love this excuse
The reason Allie was passed on by so many teams is because he was a huge risk not to sign.
Turns out we ended up signing him.
Of course, let’s not let mitigating circumstances enter the conversation. Everything is black and white in a moron’s world.
All right, then.
If Nutting handed you forty million dollars, in addition to what is already being spent, exactly whom would you sign with that money to make the Pirates into a competitive team?

Hard work always beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.
BFD...
When the Lemieux/ Burkle group took over the Pens they never used money out of their own pockets to fund the team. If you remember, for the first part of this decade the Penguins were terrible and never signed any big name free agents. Though by being so bad it netted them either the 1st or 2nd overall pick in the draft for 4 straight years. Those picks were Fleury, Malkin, Crosby, and Staal. After the lockout a salary cap was put in to their CBA, so they generally spend about the same as every other NHL team.
You have to realize that Nutting and every other owner in professional sports is first and foremost a businessman. This team doesn’t make the type of money that it takes to go and freely spend in free agency like the teams from NY or LA or Boston. It sucks, but it is what it is. What everyone is trying to explain is that while Nutting shouldn’t be up for owner of the year by any means, what he has done while being the majority owner to this point seems to be putting the team on the path to success. This success will not be now, or next year, or maybe even the year after, but it will come.
I don’t know if you write these posts with the intention of trolling or not, but until you understand that you can’t just say “Nutting is cheap, this team sucks” with no basis to your argument other than the Pirates record is bad, then these guys on here are just going to continue to rip you a new one.

I can say with absolute certainty that Mario would not
buy players with money from his own pocket. Which is apparently what everyone wants Nutting to do, not only is it bad business, but with other minority owners it is impossible business.

you know what I hate the most about nutting
is that he always seems to go with the top two buttons of his shirt unbuttoned with no undershirt. On Maz’s Day he could have buttoned up. .Has he know shame. What is he to cheap to button that button. I am sure with all the revenue sharing money he can buy a sweet gold medallion to really accentuate his look, but he doesn’t probably because he is cheap.

I bet B-nut spanks his monkey to this blog every night
Try banning me, but I'm baaaaaaaack!
B-nut and I, we shoot our loads together to this blog every night. Sometime right at each other, yay.
I just don't get what your point is...
You don’t like us… We don’t like you… You aren’t going to suddenly be like.. “Oh I get their point.” and we aren’t going to suddenly be like.. “Oh I get what he’s saying”. We just disagree. End of story. Things turn personal and it just goes around and around and around.
Obviously all of us aren’t going to leave, as there’s more of us than you on this particular blog. Why not just go somewhere else or, even better, start your own blog.
You have
a homosexual relationship with Bob Nutting?

The 1985 team was similarly shameless, with a “Bringing It Back” season theme honoring the twenty-fifth anniversary of the ’60 squad.

No, the impostor really was spot on. And that’s pretty sad.
As a matter of fact, I thought 2 posted this reply; then I noticed my error.
Is it sad that I’m more on the lookout for an ‘impostor’ than the real deal?
And…Bib Nutting? Sounds like a parody name where Bob Nutting is actually an infant in a world ruled by adolescents.
sorry
BFD1 if you could be so kind and just let us know when you’re done, we would all appriciate it. thanks.
I'll keep you posted
but i’ll most likely continue “my plan” as long as NH continues with his plan of losing in bunches
This team sucks!!!!
Enjoy the fireworks, cracker jacks, feces dogs, and memories of the good ’ol days!
BTW – 7springs is a shithole as well since B-nut got his hands on it
Wow, you've finally convinced be, BFD!
This is definitely your strongest argument yet. I must say, now I realize just how terrible Bob Nutting is that he wanted to honor Maz on the 50th anniversary of one of the most important moments in Pirate history.
I also can’t believe how cheap Nutting is that he didn’t make the statue solid gold.
Come on Mark
Aren’t you gonna give some made up formula or stat
How’d your prediction this year turn out?
If he gave you a made up stat instead of a real stat...
would you even know the difference? I know, I know, you are going to have something “clever” to say about the W-L record. Save it.
Just because you don't understand it
doesn’t mean it’s made up.
The sad thing is, you’re a grown adult (I assume), yet you have the intelligence of a shoe and the logic of a first grader.
I've got one

Dude...
How is it that he’s spouting his crap and there’s 101 (sorry…now 102) responses?
Come on guys! We know better than this!
Now go out there and take it.
Other than Pitching, Hitting, Defense, this team is set
I’m not going away; there’s no stopping “my plan” of pursuing more PHDs (read my other post). I will not stop till I have more pitching, hitting and defense Pretty Huge D**** come my way!
