Hope he didn't unpack too many of his bags just yet. The former Bucs pitching prospect, sent to Oakland in the Corey Wimberly deal on December 23, was just re-flipped by the A's to the Texas Rangers in exchange for right-handed reliever Guillermo Moscoso . Rangers scouting director Josh Boyd had some nice things to say about Kelly in the team's official announcement : "We have a lot of history with this kid going back to junior college. We like his arm. He touches 95, 96 in relief and shows flashes of a power breaking ball. We like the strikes and feel there is some upside there."
Moscoso is a strike-thrower who came up through Detroit's system, and I had actually been half-expecting us to make a play for him when he was DFA'ed last week. It's kind of amusing to see him traded for an ex-Pirate - my guess was so close, yet so far away.
