Around SBN: Roy Nelson Willing to Pay for His Next Opponent's Drug Test

Brad Lincoln, Jose Veros, and lefty relief pitchers.

I just heard via Twitter that the Jose Veros is leaning towards signing with the Pirates. For the scoop on him head over to Mlbtraderumors.com. Basically, he is a right-hander with a mid-90's fastball and high BB/9 and K/9 rates.  The deal will be a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.

I just read the post on The Altoona group and he seems to be one of the very few that think Brad Lincoln will be a good starter. I think that if the pirates give Morton another chance he will just do the same thing over again and deprive Lincoln of starts. Now, hear me out here player: last year Morton finished strong in the last few months and had high expectations. Isn't it a little strange that he finished strong this year and that the expectations are high AGAIN> As for lincoln, yes he did have a rough time in the big leagues, but most of that was due to the "kerrigan Effect." With new [and great] pitching coach Ray Searage, can he bounce back?

My final topic today is left-handed relievers. The market is very, very thin on them and it raises the question: Should the Pirates have traded Javier Lopez? I think with the return that they got, John Bowker and Joe martinez, it was a pretty stupid trade. I mean they alsready traded Joe Martinez and John Bowker is out of options with an already filled outfield/first base depth chart. I mean the FO couldnt have saw that the FA market for lefties is thin and just waited? Again, another poor move by the FO and another year of -.500 ball.

Maybe Kerrigan affected Morton as much as you are suggesting he affected Lincoln.

I hope they both succeed next year, but as for a comparison, Lincoln doesn’t stand up to Charlie.
1. Morton has had far more success at AAA and the Majors than Lincoln.
2. As for pure stuff, Morton once again dominates Lincoln. He throws even harder, with more pitches and better movement.

I’m not sure why finishing strong is a bad thing either, unfortunately we can’t even say that about Lincoln as he was injured and then moved to the pen. I guess Lincoln is >>>> Morton with the bat though, so he’s not shut out here.

We get ripped off by SF everytime we trade with them

Rios, Vogelsong, Bowker, Martinez, Alderson

I would rather have Freddi, Schmidt and Lopez
