The title says it all... well it says most of it, but I'll elaborate.
Since I'm more likely to be able to predict who we will draft 8th overall next year than actually know how many draft picks we are going to have, I'm looking for some help. Below is a list, which comprises basically all my knowledge about the Pirates situation regarding Type A and B free agents this coming offseason.
Ryan Doumit - Type B - It looks like we aren't picking up his option
Chris Snyder - Type B
Andrew McCutchen - Type A - Irrelevant because he's not eligible to be a free agent
Derek Lee - Type B
Ryan Ludwick - Type B - Considering we have Presley, Cutch, and Tabata, it looks doubtful that we need to/will bring back Ludwick
Neil Walker - Type A - Irrelevant because he's not eligible to be a free agent
Joel Hanrahan - Type A - Irrelevant because he's not eligible to be a free agent
Evan Meek - Type B - Irrelevant because he's not eligible to be a free agent
Jose Veras - Arbitration eligible this year and next. I read somewhere the Pirates are considering non-tendering him. Considering he shouldn't be that expensive, why not bring him back for two more years and see if we can get a draft pick for him.
I'd like to point out this all depends on the CBA, but I'm looking for better information on what we are supposed to be doing with each player, and maybe the likelihood of getting a draft pick from the four players who could potentially provide one.
Thanks.
