Arizona Fall League: Robbie Grossman Homers Again; No One Watches

Stay connected for news and updates

In Wednesday's Arizona Fall League action, Robbie Grossman went 3-for-5 with another homer, putting him at 5-for-9 with two homers so far in the AFL season. Jarek Cunningham put up another 0-fer, striking out twice in four at-bats.

The attendance of the game is listed at 200. Everything I've ever seen (from the annual ESPN broadcast) or read about AFL attendance figures amazes me. These are among the best prospects in baseball, and no one turns out to see them. Gerrit Cole should be making his pro debut soon, and there will probably be a couple hundred people in the stands for it.
